98 to 99+ PCM Question

98 to 99+ PCM Question
I've searched but was unable to find the answer. I am getting ready to swap out my 98 PCM for a 99. My car is a 98 TA A4 and the computer is from a 99 SS A4. Can I use the connectors from the 98 PCM, re-pin and plug in, or are the connectors different between the pcm's? Also, other than changing the fuel settings do I need to do any thing else? i.e. bcm etc....
Thanks in advance

I'm in the process of swapping my 98 PCM out for a 2000 PCM and repinning my connectors. They just plug right in, but just make sure you have the correct repin diagram. PM me if you need it. I also have been playing around with the fuel tables and think I might just have it down, we'll see.

If you are just repining you dont change the temp sensor. The sensor on the 98s is different. REads to the cluster. The 99/02 sensor will not read on your gauge if you are using the 98 cluster.

OK, I have done this so here we go.
First you will want to use a 2002 (0411) pcm it the best of those years.
You will need to repin the Red and Blue PCM connectors to the 99+ standard.
You will need to have the 2002 pcm have the fuel segment swapped into it for the fuel gauge to work correctly.
Since you are using you 98 auto harness you will need to do nothing to sensors or anyting else.
That is all that needs to be done.
I can get you a 2002 pcm with the segment swapped into it already for $120.00, or you can send me your pcm and I can have it done for you. The guy I use may just trade you the PCM's you would just be out shipping.
If you have access to EFI live i can send you the file you will need to write into your pcm if you have a (0411) pcm.
PM me if you have any questions.
If you want to use your 98 vin number in a 2002 pcm (99+ for that matter)
You will need to use EFI live.
HP Tuners will not license a 99+ pcm with a 98 vin number in it. It will give a OS vin mismatch error.
EFI live will not care, and you will be forced to use EFI for future tuning.

PCM info
I am not sure what means what but the tag on my pcm i just got reads;
Serv No 12576106
86YCTJ9222637U8W
12579403
HDW No 12570558
Does it really matter which PCM I use as long as it's 99-2002?

That service number is not from a fbody, that is from a 03 tahoe or surburban.
For your application you need: (0411)
1999 - 2001 Camaro/Firebird/Corvette LS1 = 9354896 = 512kb
2002 - 2003 Camaro/Firebird/Corvette LS1 = 12200411 = 512kb
Here are the pcm numbers: (found this thru search...https://ls1tech.com/forums/conversio...-6-0l-lq9.html)
1999 - 2001 Camaro/Firebird/Corvette LS1 = 9354896 = 512kb

Almost every other 2005 or 2006 PCM I have seen from a Silverado, has Hwd. No. 12589162. This Hwd. No. WILL NOT work.
I did come across a 2007 Express 6.0 that had DBW. To make things confusing, its Serv. No was 12602801, but Hwd. No. was 12589161, SAME as an 05 Express PCM. Go figure...I dont know what GM is doing.

Pcm?
This is interesting, I bought this as a PCM out of a 99 SS A4, but it appears it is from a 03 Truck/Suburban. I'll p.m. the seller and see whats up. What are my options at this point, can this pcm be used with the correct OS installed or do I need to get another one?
This is the p.m. I sent the seller: I am interested in it. Is it a stock 99 F-Body LS1 A4 computer? Looking to upgrade my 98 to the newer 99-2002 computer. If it is I will take it, I'll send the money paypal once I hear from you about the questions.
His reply: Yes, just a stock pcm out of a 99 SS A4.

It may have been out of a truck and reflashed with a 99 os not 100% sure. I can tell you its not the correct Harware number that SHOULD be in that car.
Who did you get the PCM off of? was it here on ls1tech? Can he verify if it was reflashed for the 99?
On the connector block on the pcm, does it say red, Blue? or does it say different colors?
