My hawk crapped out today. SES light is on and no one can read the PCM through the port under the dash. Had it tuned at Kaltech and wasn't able to get in touch with anyone there today so I was wondering if it was the norm for tuners to **** block any scanners from reading the SES codes.

That's a first for me....you're saying that you can't retrieve any dtc's? I've never heard of a tuner locking out the ability to read dtc codes....tune files get locked fairly often though. Usually (but not always) to hide crappy work, from posts I've read elsewhere.

Yep...me too...usually on "exotic" tunes where a lot of work and time was put into the tune. Other than that, most good tuners don't usually worry about it. That's just been my personal experience though.
But are you meaning they lock the ability to retrieve trouble codes?
