4l80 lockup issues attached current tune
0411 PCM
LQ9
4L80E
FTI 3K converter
The computer won't lockup the converter on its own, however It can be commanded to lock and it will via HP tuners.
I'm having a friend tune it with HP tuners, and I personally am not that knowledgeable as to what exactly he's done.
Does this sound like a tuning issue, or more of a internal trans problem? I've also got this posted in the auto section with no responses as of yet.
I know the misfire table needs to be raised to compensate for the cam, and larger (smaller diameter) converter, not 100% sure if that's been done. Just want a better knowledge base to bring to him when I can get the truck back to him.

my buddy is having similar issues with his 4l80 setup. We can clear all codes and the lockup will work, but after a short drive something is setting off the random misfire code which eliminates the lockup ability. It can be manually commanded with a tech2 but chasing down this misfire is getting annoying! I'll have to check and see if his tuner raised the threshold for misfire codes, because he also put an aftermarket stall on. Other things that have been replaced:
-plugs
-wires
-injectors
-coils are next on the list

It's good to hear I'm not alone with this. I also have new plugs, wires, and injectors.
The coils are used, but I'm getting no trouble codes other than not having a check engine light.

yeah he was getting 2 specific coils for misfire, which could of been the coil or injector. He had a brand new set of injectors so he threw those on and got a retune but the lock up is still acting up. Hopefully the 250k mile coils are the problem, he just ordered some new ones so i'll let you know if that fixes it or not.

Ok, update... my own HP tuners finally came in, misfire tables are maxed out already (so I believe) I also think* I adjusted the lockup to come on in 4th at 42MPH
However it still doesn't lock on its own, I can however command the lockup and it happens.
I've attached my current tune, hopefully I still don't have it correct?

90 for all the cells correct? I downloaded some tune from the repository for comparison and it's the attached screenshot.
I've set them all to 90, going to go flash the truck and give it a whirl!

Flashed with the table being all 90's no lockup.
Copied table shown in screenshot into tune, reflashed, again no lockup.
Yet with either tune lockup still happens when commanded.

Doubtful, The last person I had street tune the truck flashed it from the non electric trans to the 4L80.
I bought my own HP tuners trying to fix this issue, is there a way I can tell if it has a segment swap?

Read this for segment swap numbers.
http://www.hptuners.com/forum/showth...-Segment-swaps
There is another post somewhere that tells exactly which segment is for trans, trans diagnostics, engine and engine diagnostic etc but i can't find it now.

I took a screenshot of my current "Calibration Details" looks like, Says I've got a 6.0 with 4L80.
That mean when the previous tuner built my tune from a correct base, or it has a segment swap?
Sorry if I seem dense, trying my hardest to comprehend all of this. lol

Cruising at 55 I can blip the throttle barely and the RPM will jump 4-500 RPM.
If I go into the command center, I can "turn on" the TCC solenoid via this button the RPMS will drop as if the converter actually locks.
See screenshot for the actual button I'm referring to.
The TCC tables have been altered since the last tune I uploaded, I also had it pointed out to me I had several (all probably) DTC that had to do with the transmission turned off. Those were turned on, and all set to the SES on 2nd recognition.
The attached tune is exactly how it sits today, if I'm not mistaken the tables pointed out have been altered. I actually copied a fellow members trans tables into mine hoping the trans would lockup as he said his does. Yet to no avail.

There's a chance it's wrong I suppose, but I'd like to believe it's correct.
The gentleman whom built it do it for a side business, used to work for gm, and is a member on here.. Ha
I'll check out your tune tomorrow night when I've got time.
Preciate the help
