I've been picking up Dell Precision M90 computers with
big memory and preloaded Office for about $200. Dual
2GHz cores more than suffice for this use. Lots of ports.
Good battery life. Gorgeous 1920x1200 17" screen that
you can see when it sits on the passenger's seat.

I use these as engineering workstations because of the
graphics but they are also built pretty tough (though
fluids, is on you).

They've been coming with Win7Pro, which suits me fine.
I converted one to Red Hat for the nerdware I use. You
will not have a problem finding drivers and parts.

I use a Gateway ne56r31u
4gb memory
320 gb hard drive
has a 6 cell li-ion batter

I haven't the slightest clue what any of that means lol. Its windows 8 operated, works great. I can go to the track all evening to tune and the battery is always good. Got it off walmart.com. It was $250 came with a carrying case and a 2gb thumb drive. Bought it because it was cheap and ive been using it for around a year with no issues

I have a small Asus T1 Transformers laptop/tablet that comes apart at the seam. It's very light and compact and the fact that I can make it into an even smaller tablet when I want to just scan stuff is nice. Also has a real solid keyboard unlike many of the other hybrid systems (like the Microsoft Surface, I can't stand that mushy keyboard).

I used to have a 12" Dell Latitude but that seems bulky compared to this. I would not want a bigger laptop than that for tuning in the car and stuff. I can always hook it up to my monitor at home if I need a bigger screen.

I have a Toshiba satellite L750-A7283 windows 8 OS. bought hp tuners and the new laptop, took it straight to the tunner to put hp tuners on and download a base tune 3 bar speed density, (thinking he knew more about it than me) he used all my credits on the hp tuner ??? is hard to navigate, hate it would gladly trade for a windows 7 OS.

So mac systems are able to run HPT with no issues then. I have a apple products and would love to stay with them if they work well with no glitches.
if not im thinking about picking up one of the HP envy mentioned above.

I use an Acer Aspire One. After I got a decent hard drive in it it works well. The size is convenient too.

HPT wont run on mac, you'll have to run it on windows with either parallels and windows or use bootcamp and run windows. I run parallels and run mac and windows xp at the same time. I only use windows for all my tuning softwares.
