Default wide band 02 bung

Does the bung for a wide band need to be in front of the cat or can it go in the y-pipe after the cat? Thanks

i always wonder when someone types like that if they speak the same...

If you have cats, you want to place your wideband o2 in front of it so that it will take readings from an uninterrupted, true exhaust content... Cats distort wideband readings and functionality... hope this helps...

This does help thanks. But it makes me wonder about the A/F reading taken at the dyno Saterday. They just put a small tube with a vacum pump in the exhaust tail pipe. they Said it just sucks it out. The A/R reading can't be correct.

if at all possible your probably better off putting the sensor in front BUT from what ive read cats when overcome with fuel dont work nearly as well and the ratio at that point becomes more accurate...just from what ive read/seen on an aussie ls1 board.

I'm not 100% sure but I think dyno o2s are heated... Otherwise there's no way they'd be able to get accurate readings all the way back in the tailpipe... If you have a heated o2 (LM-1 unit) then I think you can take readings from most anywhere... (at least that's what innovate told me)

I'm so sorry

I was at work, on a break and typing fast,
I did not have time to proof read the post.

so if you can ever forgive me here are a few more periods to make up for it

for scientific purposes I put a bung before and after the catalytic. I tried both and the O2 sensor is effective in both places. I cannot discern that the cat affects the reading significanly with the oxygen sensor in either location. I am using an LM-1.

Both part throttle and WOT? If so, that may solve all my problems.

That sounds great... Both of my cats already have bungs on the can itself, before and after. The "afters" are free to use.

Ther's a lot of opinions about that on the web but nobdy was able to make a clear statement.

with no cats, would it be good to mount the bung where the y converges?
