Default i want absolute timing control but can't get it.

i am using the stock computer with efilive to control my timing. i have both my high and low octane tables set to the same numbers.

i have the high and low tables along with the park/neutral and in gear tables all set to 35deg for any rpms under 1600.
i have every other table i can find set to 0 or 1 depending on the table to try and keep any timing modifications from happening.

when i go wot i see very close to the programed timing, it is withen a 1-2deg of what my high and low tables are set to.

when i am at idle i see from 29deg up to 49deg. i am shooting for a steady 35deg but it varies all over the place constantly. i want my high and low table or my park/neutral and in gear table to control my timing, i dont want it all over the place.

i have a decent cam and minimal vacume, also no iat sensor or maf. why is my timing all over the place at idle?

hmmm, only thing that i know that messed with my timing at idle is the overspeed correction. for wot i was going to say something about the IAT but if you dont have one then that cant be the problem there lol. idle overspeed though for me only goes +/-2.5 deg max. whats the range or rpm at idle? how high and how low does it go? when hot

my idle rpms once warmed vary from 850-1000. timing varies from 29 to 44deg with an average of 35deg.

whoa, i missed that entire idle over and underspeed table. thanks, i will 0 that one out and go try it.

Parish, MS doesnt support LS1 ignition yet? Damn it. How is the MS working? Has been a long time since I chatted with you about it. If you can throw me an email.

If you set the overspeed at -10 and underspeed at 10 it will idle alot smother. The timing switching from 30ish to 20 will make the car idle the way you want it to.

Just try it out one time and see how you like it.

ive never messed with underspeed, should the underspeed be the same as the over speed table?

Charlie

there are a couple of guys running timing with it but i think they swaped coils to make it easier to set up. i would change over in a heartbeat if i was positive the knock circuits worked great but i hate to play around with something like that when i have what works now. i do much of my tuning based on my knock sensors.

when i get home i am going to try out the idle underspeed, mine was all zeroed out, i may see if that will help out. all i know is i left about 2* of timing in until about 150 rpm and it really helped the idle out, so if you are worried about it then put a few deg in there and it may help to get the idle varience closer. although with what you have done that might be as close to stable as you can get lol.

Set the overspeed at -8 and the underspeed at 8 in every cell.
It will almost completely stop surging.

10 is kinda much...but depends on the size of the cam.

If you set the idle timing(0-1400) at 25 it will vary 8 degrees either way if it detects a need for it.IE..surging of any kind.

i have it anywhere from 0.5-2 deg in the lower rpms and its working very well for me, i will try what you say but i woudlnt think the timing changing that much would do too good, but ill give it a shot. lowering underspeed have definately helped idle out
