Ls1edit - Hotcam STILL WONT IDLE in A4..
Hey guys im just looking for any advice I can get. Car is a 2001 Trans Am A4 with a contintental 3000 stall converter, gm hotcam, 3.23s, and a slp exhaust.
I drilled the TB, raised the idle screw, and raised the idle in ls1edit to around 850.
The car idles A LOT better now, but it still will not start without giving it gas, especially with the a/c on. I have tried raising the timing at idle a little, but didnt seem to help.
I know the hotcam isnt that big, so why does it idle so shitty. What do the guys with BIG cams and A4s do.
:-(
Thanks Again,
Shane

my iac counts when warm and my ltrims are perfect.
I'll have to check cold, but when the car is cold everything is fine, only on warm starts do i have any issues.
Thanks,
Shane

somedays mine wont surge any, but sometimes its PITA trying to start and idle <img border="0" title="" alt="[Smile]" src="gr_stretch.gif" /> part of cam life i guess <img border="0" title="" alt="[Wink]" src="gr_images/icons/wink.gif" />

it can be fixed, i had the same exact problem look for a vacume leack, they will kick your butt, i had 2 of them and i "stumbled on to them days later, i dont know what the parts are called but the were the fitting right after theTB on the driver side and a few lines on the back side of the driver valve cover..

Re: Ls1edit - Hotcam STILL WONT IDLE in A4..
I'm thinking of a choke that will manually open the throttle up when cold starting. All you need is something to depress the accelerator pedal, or a cable to pull the throttle open a little when cold starting. After it warms up, release the manual choke. Right now my foot is the manual choke. I maintain 1500 rpms with my foot on the brake when I back out of my driveway, or the car will stall.

I never start mine with the AC on or it will hunt for idle then die, without AC on it hunts a sec then runs fine and then I can turn on AC and all is good.
