Well, I sent an email to tunercat. They said that there version of LS1 C.A.T.S. Tuner program will be out at the end of this year!
I think The LT1 tuner was somthing like $50? I could be wrong.
That will be very good to drop the pricing of the tunners!!!
Here is the email!

Does this program do the same things as LS1 edit, but cheaper ? If so then I'm very interested. $550 is more than I'm willing to pay

Well, I do not know how strong of a tuner it is. But it has been used by the LT1 guys to tune there cars!
Email them at tc@tunercat.com
So, we can get things cheaper! LS1edit is great, but it is very $$$$$. tunercat should be cheaper!

Just for the record, you'll still need an OBDII interface cable (most likely RS232/serial to OBDII) which will probably be around $100-150.....
As an LS1edit owner, one thing is for sure though - if you think a POS like HPP+ is worth $350, then LS1edit is worth 10 times as much....

Well I for one will be glad to see somemore alternatives to ls1edit and even then new predator.I already have a scanmaster and autotap and don't need another scantool just a good programming program.Tunercat gives free updates unlike ls1edit and ls1edit is super overpriced and doesn't even seem to be very user friendly at all from looking at all the people asking questions about it ,even raising the rev limiter seems to be a major challenge on ls1edit..for the money they charge they should have free updates,
a serious manual, free online support..time for some competition..I was going to get ls1edit but now since car is away anyway till april maybe by then I will have some choices...

I have also emailed with Tunercat and I don't think that their setup will be $50 but it will be below $500 per their email... I don't think they have fixed on a price yet... Sounded like end of the year for a release.
I think LS1 Edit updates should be free downloads since I consider early LS1 Edit to be incomplete.

I was looking at their website, and the software looks really good. You can edit spark tables visually by dragging, as opposed to doing it numerically with edit. I think it would be much easier doing it this way, and your timing chart will be smoother. I find my car almost stumbles when I hit a big timing change in the tables right now - and it is really hard to smooth it on a spreadsheet.
I agree with the update thing too. Updates are free with tunercat, and LS1edit charges you. For the kind of cash we pay for that thing, they should automatically email them to us with a big thank you note attached! I guess that is why monoplies are gov't regulated, right?

I'd like to see Tunercat come in a lot lower than LS1 Edit.
I still don't see how LS1 Edit can get off asking folks to pay some sort of maintenance fee for subsequent updates...

I e-mailed them today to show my interest and to see if I could get any details. This is what they replied. Very quick by the way.
"Hi Tony,
Thank you for your e-mail regarding the C.A.T.S. Tuner program.
We are currently working on an OBDII version of the Tuner program that will support the LS1 but we are a little behind our original schedule. We are now shooting for a release date early next year.
We have not yet established a price but we are trying to keep it as reasonably priced as possible.
If you have any other questions, or would like additional information, please do not hesitate to contact us.
Best Regards,
TC"
Looks like the beginning of the year but that's still pretty good! <img border="0" title="" alt="[Big Grin]" src="gr_grin.gif" />
