I don`t know s**t about "doing" a tune job, but my car is a daily driver and my timing was advanced 4 degrees when I got my tune job.

Mine is also all stock, except for lid, maf ends and loudmouth exhaust. I added 2 degrees across the table and have no knock retard. My understanding is that the LS1 is pretty well timed. The real place to increase the timing is in the load-rpm ranges that you would hit with WOT. I'd do some recording with Auto Tap and see what your range is and then start increasing the timing advance in these areas maybe 1 degree at a time and then test with Auto Tap. When you start getting kock retard in an area then you change that value back 1 degree and start looking at the other areas for more timing. I believe the best performance is where the timing is increased until knock begins.

I haven't gotten started yet with this "fine" tuning of the timing yet. I have a small amount of the timing table started but haven't gotten very far yet.

Maybe someone else with a basically stock car has done this and can attach a file of his setup.

The highest value on the hi-octane table on my 2002 was 42 degrees.

Are you looking for WOT or cruise?

All the LS1 files I've looked at 97-01, show that max timing at 28*.

I'm using the factory stock timing table in the PCM, '99 Camaro SS heads/cam/etc swap. At WOT, 6,000RPM in 2nd and 3rd gear, I'm pulling 28* timing.

I have not tuned the PCM for timing yet, this will happen in the Spring.
