Started on head gaskets replacement,,,, the hard way. Think I'm just going to find and buy a ready to run engine and just swap them out. If I don't this car will never see the road again...😔
Replaced the battery with a new AC Delco, and replaced the overflow tank while I was at it. The overflow tank doubles as the battery tray, and I found the lip that secures the front of the battery had broken off sometime over the last couple decades. I also noticed the replacement OEM GM tank does not come with the rubber grommet that secures the overflow tube to the tank. Luckily I was able to reuse the old grommet, which was in good condition, by carefully cutting it out of the old tank (it is press fitted in, and would not come out easily). I was also pleased to see that all the metal below the battery was clean and dry, with no rust whatsoever.

A couple of weeks ago I finally got my wheels that I have been wanting for a while. Welds RTS S71. 18x10 high pad +41mm front, 18x11 medium pad +43mm rear. I went with Falken Azenis RT660 tires. 285/30 front, 315/30 rear.
I have a custom front bumper and i want to ad some ducting to hide the open spaces, initially inwanted brake ducting but for the time being these will hide the guts.
Well..... heat forming didn't work out. Cause i was lazy when I nade the first. Instead of using a form I just bent angles and soldered plastic together.
so phase 3 template making, i actually tried for a while to judt find some carbin fiber side mirror housings but never could find somethig dimensionally . So I made a form for each side to base this off of. Now inhale two options heat wrap again, need more plastic or make a fiber glass full duct. Heat forming would be simpler but not really bad duct just a baffle.
took it out of storage and gave her some new shoes, soles, and a wash (pics are pre-wash) old tires and rim new rims from yearone with 275/40ZR-17 FALKEN AZENIS RT660 SL all around had custom blue birds made for the center caps
Just got back from a weekend in Richland WA, down for a GTO/all Pontiac car show in the park. Weather was unsettled, but at least the rain held off until mid afternoon. Really enjoyed driving the Firehawk on open highways, loafing along in 6th gear at 80-90mph. Even won a little trophy. Firehawk ran like a top, even in heavy rain and fog at the Summit of Snoqualmie Pass. Here's a photo.
I love getting into cars, I've rebuilt the engine of my Pontiac, like, 4 times. I think I can call myself a real car enthusiast. I recently changed the brake pads to textar and also the BBS rims along with the tires from Toyo tires. My love for cars came from the forums. Petrol heads love www.replicarclub.com , I sit on this forum all the time and share my experiments and works.
