My bird really that rare?
Hey guys, just looked up my Firebird on compnine and it says my car is the only 1 ever in 1998 with those features..
http://www.compnine.com/vid.php?vin=2g2fv22g6w2226525
I mean i'm sure its not as common as a mustang, but it can't be that rare right?

I was on there the other day and it said the same thing about my '98 TA. ...I ran the vin from my Grand Prix and my wife's minivan and came up with similar reponses. I don't think it's all that accurate!

I think there are dealer codes involved with the delivery of the vehicle. My WS6 came up one of one but when I picked out a few options (formula, vert,WS6, dk green ) it came up 1 of 7 which is much more believable. Maybe it was the cassette deck making mine 1 of 1?!?
It's possible that is the only bird equipped like that sold at the same dealer

The Compnine site is correct to a point, it bases the cars rarety off of it's RPO list. but like said above certain RPO's are specific for Dealers or Regions.
Mine is listed as a 1 of 1 aswell but doing some figuring off of percentages of production numbers I know mine is one of approx 22 `98 Formula M6 Hardtops in NBM.

Yeah i didn't think so, also read that it differs from the factory it was made in, so another factory could of made the exact same car and it wouldn't show it.
Eh i'm still happy with my bird.

You need to look at the options list-how many cars were made with the same matching options.
My car is one of 561 with the 20U blue so it's much rarer than your car, although not that rare. There is one other car that has the exact same options as my car.
When you run across an option that's only on like 20 cars, then it's considered a rare car.

You need to uncheck all the RPOs, then check only the ones that count (model, trans, t-top, WS6, exterior color, interior color and any other obscure option you are attempting to quantify rarity). The default is to have all RPOs checked, and as mentioned, since one of the RPOs is the build week, this pretty much makes every car a 1-of-1. Not "useless", just not "useful" unless used properly.
