Default Clogged/Bad Cat Converter + Performance

I was wondering...would a bad Cat converter affect the performance of our cars?

Since removing the cats usually gains horsepower, I'd say yes, a "damaged" cat could definitely hurt performance. Although, I don't know how it would get "clogged".

You may have a problem with your O2 sensors. If one is reading wrong then the computer may THINK the cat is bad when its actually not. I'd look into that first.

Do you hear anything rattling under the car?

Had a cat fall apart and clog on my truck years ago, YES it will definately affect performance, as in KILLS IT. The first sign was rattling in the cat, then a quieter exhaust noise, then before long power goes away drastically. As I was driving my truck to the dealer to have the cat replaced, it could barely go 15 MPH and get up the incline into the parking lot.

Good Lord YES!!!! Im always hearing a rattling noise from under the car....even from the inside of the car. I was always thinking it was my exhaust rubbing against something.......My Hooker headers will be here friday.
