Default After market or original ram air hood?

I recently got my TA and i love it, but i cant wait to throw on that intimidating ram air hood. I remember driving my 93 firebird and seeing a ws6 for the first time in my rear view n feeling like the thing was gona eat me with car and all, so i said to my self gota get me one of those! Have it now, but im wondering if i should go original GM or aftermarket, and if aftermarket which ones are the best looks and quality?

Originals can be very expensive if bought from dealer. Even at the local yards they are pricey. I bought a rksport ram air hood for 275. Fitment was perfect. Seriously, I didn't even had to align anything. I just bolted it on and it fit fine.

yes the nostrils are the eye of the beast....mines aftermarket, not sure of brand, but does not fit the greatest....sure it looks good with shiny flat paint, but unless your looking for perfect lines go for OEM.

I like the US Exotics WS9 hood. It has the cool heat vents like the Firehawks.

The only positive to getting a factory hood is the perfect fit/finish. Some aftermarket hoods don't fit exactly perfect nor do they look exactly like the oem ws6 hood.

Those of us with 3rd Gen Formulas have no choice but to go aftermarket on the hood. What is unfair is that ALL 3rd Gen Formulas are WS6 from the factory without exception. Putting that nostril-nose Ram-Air hood on a 3rd gen really wakes up the look of the car, in my opinion. I get compliments on it from just about everyone.

The oem ram air hood is fiberglass and a lot lighter than the regular T/A hood. I don't see how an aftermarket fiberglass hood could be much lighter than the oem WS6 hood.

your kidding right?

fiber glass aftermarket hoods weight 8-11 lbs... you really should feel a ws6 hood off the hydrolics... feels about 45 lbs and it definatly dont feel any lighter then the stock hood...

you are not going to be able to beat the quality of an OEM hood, but you can easily beat the price. id defantely look at aftermarket like VFN, companies with proven quality. DON"T get a Mecham unless you have to, quality sucks even if it looks badass

My T/A didn't come with a ram air hood. The after market hood that I have on it now is lighter than the hood that came on it and was cheaper than an OEM WS6 hood.

I've had them side by side, and the OEM WS6 hood feels much lighter than the OEM steel hood.

OEM WS6 is the best quality/finish when it comes to hood. GM List is $1,952.35 I can get one for around $1373 after tax.
