Default Keep the ws6 or get cobra

Ok I know what you are thinking, another stupid question. I have a 02 trans am ws6 blk blk leather with 14000 miles. It has Vortech, headers,12 bolt, mcloud clutch, pro 5.0 shifter, full bmr susp,ported tb,and has been tuned by hp tuners by scott at gen 3. Last time it made 498hp and around 500 lbs. Very nice car. My wife wants me to trade or sell it and get a 03-04 cobra. Please tell me what you guys think the pros and cons are. Please be honest and dont just go with the ta because its a ta. thanks.

Im going with the T/A because its a T/A, cons is it's a Mustang. Pros hmmmm.......

Pros for keeping the Trans Am:
-The Trans Am still has very low miles on it
-Black on black is a great color sceme
-You have already done a ton of work to it
-Trans Ams are much better looking than Cobras
-The Trans Am isn't made anymore

Pros for getting a Cobra:
-uhhhhhh.......mmmmmm......????
-Ahhh!!!! here's one! We can all make fun of you!

Cons for keeping the Trans Am:
-Your wife will nag.

Cons for getting a Rustang:
-If you get an 04, the body style will be outdated
-It's a ford
-It's a ford
-It's a ford
-etc. etc.etc.

You will not get anywhere near the amount of money for the car that you have put into it. Not to mention all the work that went into it. It has low miles, so these mods have not even been used that much. So let's sell it? Would be a huge financial mistake.

TA's are so much better looking than Cobras. Don't buy one because your wife wants you too. If she makes you sell your car and you end up regretting it, you will resent her.

The IRS on the Cobra is a big turn off. They're not drag strip friendly

The styling of the Cobra from that era is nice. I especially like the hood and nose on the Cobra better than the regular Mustang on that body style.

Well i talked once with an 03 Cobra owner who had 436rwhp. His car was fast and i told him how sick his car is, and he told me its nice but my trans am looked meaner. Besides from your stats on you WS6 why would you want to get rid of it?

NO-i drove an 03 about a month ago with 460 rwhp--fast,but outdated styling and chassis--i have a nbm ta and no way would i sell it to get a car with NO styling at all IMO...

Todd dont take comments to heart, you are asking the wrong question on an "LS1" forum". Everyone here owns a T/A, Z28, or GTO etc. We all love our cars well i do mine. Just keep the T/A

I traded my 00 TA Ws6 for an 04 Cobra and I couldnt be happier. Besides the bullshit of its a ford Im going to give you honest answers.

Pro's for the TA:
Badass styling
Great seating position (shifter right in your hand)

Con's for TA:
Clutch is weak (fluid clutch)
Weak rear ends (10 bolt)
Can't make over 600 hp without rebuilding the motor (reliable - better pistons, rods)

Pro's for Cobra:
Awesome motor (Forged Everything from the factory)
Easy to get around 600 reliable horsepower all for about 4 grand.
Bulletproof rearend (no worries about blowing it up)
Seats (if friggin love the swede no sliding around!)
Awesome clutch set up (Cable clutch - no fade after a beating)
Mach 460! Nuff said

Con's for Cobra:
Old outdated chassis (usual rattles)
Stock shifter sucks and is in a horrible location

Personally I used to hate mustangs just because I drove one every year and they just didnt have the power I thought they should. I fell in love with an 03 when I drove it. Just has power everywhere and they love to be rev'd. I seems I always find myself cruising in the cobra in third or fourth and its so smooth I dont notice it. With the 00 TA there was no way. It just had to many vibrations above 2500.

I was always diehard GM but there were a couple things that sold me on the cobra. One: Motor (close to bulletproof from the factory - all forged)
Two: God I love the clutch! The feel is perfect, very stiff (no fade)
Three: The transmission doesnt feel mushy when shifting. Drive a cobra for two weeks then get back in the TA or SS and you'll see what I mean.
Four: Even though the irs isnt for drag racing I dont have to worry about having to get a 2300 dollar twelve bolt only to have it whine and then break again. The irs is almost bulletproof.
Five: The seats are great. I dont slide around near as much as in my TA.

Now dont get me wrong I loved my TA and I still do. I will always dislike any pre 03 mustang. I just think the 03-04 cobra's are sweet. They aren't anything like the 01 and previous years.

So i boils down to either have the TA for styling and dump a ton into to make it fast or Get the cobra which stills looks great but can make a shitload of power with a minimal investment out of that little 281.
