Smile ws6 or not

How can I know if my new 01 trans am is a ws6 or not. It does not have any sticker on the driver side door because I think it was repainted? It has the ram air hood, the rear spoiler, and the ws6 rims, the suspension does not feel that good. When I entered the vin # to try a carfax report it said firebird trans am formula. How can I find out?

rims, hood, badge, lower air box and sticker on lid. The spoilers are the same. Maybe someone can find out by looking up the vin.

Look at the RPO codes on the inside of the driver side door. if it is a WS6 then the numbers WS9 and WS6 will show up in I believe it is the fourth row. If it has both of them then it is a WS6 if it does not then obviously it isn't

That's what I was going to say as well, but -

I think the VIN is the only option left.

Since it's an 01, you could try contacting the guy in the sticky about the ASC WS6 Conversion number.

damn over looked that. LOL. Hmmmm the VIN won't help you can find out where and when it was made and production number but I haven't found any site that shows if it is a ws6 or not. Hmmm this is a tuffy time to go research

I just noticed that Y2K cleaned up the stickies. The one I was referring to is now part of the last one.

This is the relevent part -

So let me know and I'll be happy to hook you up! You guys can also try emailing Marty Straub at ASC @ marty.straub@ascglobal.com and see if he responds.

IMPORTANT! - 99 and 00 guys, pls send me the born on date from the driver door sticker along with your vin. TY.
So, if it's a WS6, there's a good chance he'd have the ASC WS6 conversion/production number, and that could be determinied from the VIN.

Of course, he said "almost all", so if it doesn't show a WS6 conversion number, it could be one he doesn't have, or a fake. Still not 100%, but probably the next place to look.

This is a long shot but...

Does it have rubber or polyeurethane bushings for the sway bars?

I know my WS6 has polyeurthane bushings and I do not believe the base Trans Am did, it had rubber.

Contact chevymec on this board....

He ran the VIN on my Silverado before I bought it, and he was able to get all kinds of info for me. I know where it was sold new, have some of the recall and repair info done to it, and of course all the vin-related info.

ok heres an even dumber question. What exactly is the difference between a TA and a WS6 TA??? I know the hood and its air induction, but what is the suspension upgrade.

If the exhaust is still stock, that is a give away if its a ta or ws6. Also the ws6 has a larger front swap bar i believe

ws-6 has a larger sway bar and less restrictive exhaust
