Default What rear end in 77 firebird?

We pulled a rear end out of a 77 firebird today, what rear ends come In these car?

I know very little about 2nd gen cars, but it does not have a shaker hood and does not have an RPM gauge.

could be any kind of gearing, but more then likely an open rear with highway gears. was it a V8? 6? check to see if theres a posi tag on it, which i doubt there is.

Most of those cars were 2.56's 2.73's or 3.23's mainly dependant on what engine was in the car. larger engines usually had taller gears cause of their torque advantage.
Best way to figure it out is spin the axle and count how many times the pinion yoke spins per axle revolution.

Not sure how those cars are, if there's an RPO sheet or sticker, but get a pic of it and post it. Or go here and see how many turn up results

not to mention i think that if you had a/c, you got a taller rear end mandated.

If it is a base model, with a 350, then you're talking 2.41''s probably.

If you have the rear pulled, you can count the pinion and ring gear teeth after pulling the cover, and set it as a fraction of Pinion/Ring and reduce. There is your ratio.

I dont know much about 2nd gens but like I said, it does NOT have a RPM gauge, someone told me that made a difference in certain models...?

Ya, I know how to divide the ring with the pinon... We dont plan on taking apart the rear end...
