Default First Impressions Dunlop Direzza Sport Z1 Star Spec

245/45R18 Purchased from Tire Tack for $179ea.
Installed by Just Tires for probably too much(but they were the only shop
open on a rainy Sunday)

I ordered these tires Thursday afternoon and they were at my house within 24 hrs. So I was real anxious to get these on and get the bald RSAs off. I drove down to just tires to get them mounted and balanced. I will say this they were real good and took their time. They even allowed me in the shop to watch and look over the underside of my car while it was on the lift. On my way home it was raining steady and these seem to handle that with no problem. No hint of slip or slide under normal driving.

Once home the rain had stopped and the roads seemed to be drying a little so I decided to go for a ride. I was able to find some dry spots to see how they would react to some 30-40 mph roll runs (RSAs typically failed this test or dry days) and they just went right with it. No slip chirp just the *** end squat and go. Along a secondary road I for a nice dry patch and stopped since no one was around. I gave the converter a flash to clean off the tires then gave her a spirited run to 80. From a dead stop with a little more than half throttle theses tires hooked as good as my seasoned MT DRs do...but they handle the rain 1000x's better. They do transmit a little bit more of the road and there is a little road noise(which once the radio vol hit 13 you don't hear it anymore)

I'll try and follow up once they get some miles on them and maybe a trip to the track just to see how they do.

Good info, thanks. I'm going to need to start looking into tires soon.

Edit: Just looked at them and they don't have 19's, oh well.

Look at the BFG KDWs....I got some good feed back on them too. They were my second choice

It looks like you found my secret tire. The star specs hook damn good for a street tire. I run them as fronts on my DR/Z06 wheel combo for the G8.

I had Yokohama S-Drives on my GXP. They were exceptional tires and went nearly 20,000 miles before one got a nail in the sidewall. Very low road noise and very comfortable ride with outstanding grip on dry and wet.

Indeed, they hook well enough to blow a diff to pieces!
