Well, first off Im not new to pontiacs nor am I new to modding cars or fast cars.

But the gtos actually being holden vehicles with gm parts im not the most familiar with there realibility and durability.

Tell me what you guys think about the following cars.

04 Gto 6spd blk/blk minor flood damage, 74k, seats dont work, $6k cash.

05 Gto red/red auto, 40k 2 owners $15k

06 Gto, 71k 6spd red on blk $13 obo

04 Gto, 13k miles, red,red 6spd, $14k

Input is greatly appericated.

Go for the 06, 6spd 71k for $13000

Has to have an LS2
Has to have a manual
Not a giant fan of the red interior.
...has to have some sort of potential for resale (eliminates the flood damaged one.)

Where is the flood damage car for sale at? For that price I'd be interested in maybe having that as a DD and storing my other one. Seats can be fixed/replaced.

Go for the '05 (red/red) with 40k if youre okay with an auto.

I personally would go for the '04 with the 6 spd and 13k.

Good luck with your search!

I'd probably stay away from the flood damaged one.

But the others - it's really hard to say based solely on mileage. If they've been properly cared for, then the higher mileage ones will be fine. And a low mileage one might be all kinds of screwed up if it's been jumping railroad tracks at the hands of a teenager. Really you need to drive them and closely examine them.

Get over on ls1gto.com and look in the for sale section. If you look on craigslist and cars.com/autotrader you'll find gto's that were driven by guys who aren't enthusiasts. Over on the big board, they're all gto lovers. You'll find some great, really clean goats.

I'm also curious. I had an 04 M6 24k miles red/blk. Have thought about getting back into another one. The ones closest to me are higher mileage cars. This one inparticular is an 06 Blue/blk-blue interior M6 and is a one owner car but seems to have higher miles 130k.
Asking price is 11,700

Any input would be appreciated.
Thanks

Seems to be the norm around here. 70k miles on up. That one is the closest.

I think the one in the link I posted above only had around 40K and had a built motor, supporting mods, wheels, etc... and it was going for 12.5K last I checked.

It's pretty hit and miss to be honest.

Mine was fine the 25k miles I had it since new. Most of my friends who bought them all had some pretty expensive problems. Also keep in mind parts aside from the powertrain are unique to this car only, expensive and can be potentially hard to get. This includes major water intrusion/pooling during rain and an entire engine replacement.

Aside from the powertrain change between 2004 and 2005+ the differences between each year are pretty minor. There is nothing wrong or really undesirable with an LS1 GTO vs the LS2 GTO plus the LS1s tend to be more affordable.

I can vouch for the water intrusion, that happened with my 04. That and the dash went out on me. They replaced the weatherstrip and something else that involved the weather stripping and they also replaced my dash, all warranty work to, thankfully.
Those were the only two issues I had, otherwise, it was a great car.

I'd prefer an 04 to be honest, something about them attracts me.

I finally found a GTO. It does take some searching, but you can get a nice 05-06 in the 15K range.

There is nothing wrong with the 04' models, especially if you ever plan on swapping the engine. A new bottom end, rebuild the trans, and get a new set of gears and you can forget what the odometer reads.
