Default LS2 detuned in lower RPM?

I had a 2002 Camaro SS with A4 and 345HP. When I used to jump on this car it really came on hard. I drove a 2005 GTO with 1600 miles on it that I am buying but when I stood on it it didn't seem as urgent as when doing same manuever with Camaro.
Is there something that restricts power like my Hayabusa has or is it because the LS2 makes power differently?

Cant answer the question but my GTO is slower than all of the f bodies Ive owned except my 96 A4 Z28. I dont know why or how thats possible but Im not impressed with the acceleration part of this car. Mines an 06 M6.

My friend has a stock 06 M6 car, before getting the diablosport thing a ma jig, it was quick, but not as "ballsy" for lack of a better word than my fbody and his previous f-body. Once he picked up the tuner, with no other mods, he pulled me 60-110 on the highway, about 1.5-2 cars. Get a tune and wake the car up. To answer your question "yes" they are somewhat detuned with traction devices.

it's called torque management, very restrictive on automatic equipped vehicles. Various tuning software/companies exist to remove the restrictive program.

That's correct. It's on all gm products......cars/trucks/suv's It's there insurance policy to keep parts from breaking.

Thanks for the replies. If I have the car tuned will it void the warranty? Part of the reason I was going to buy the car is it has almost the whole 3/36,000 mile warranty. The guy bought as a left-over in May and couldn't afford it.

Throttle by wire seems to have some slower throttle response.

I just talked to a local tuner who said he could do the tune and it would make a big difference for about $275 and would be undetectable by dealer. Does that sound reasonable?

Torque managment is the key factor in lack of power below 4000rpm. I read somewhere it pulls up to 60% of the power until 4000rpm. You can really feel the power pick up after 4000rpm. Funny thing is, dyno graphs dont show it because the runs are done in a higher gear where I believe the torque managment is relaxed.

Necro, dude your sig is 4x the size of your posts.

Waste of money, you can remove it in tuning.

I'll also add that my LS2 goat feels like a new car after I deleted all torque management. Mine is a 6-speed...

Additionally, the stock tune pulls a TON of timing based on heat-soaked IAT values. I modified that table with HPTuners, and the car feels like an animal now...

See my new signature, I decided to buy the GTO and will have my local tuner dyno the car before he tunes to see what it will pull.

If that's for a dyno tune then that's a great price. Though if it's just to remove the TM I would look somewhere else and spend he extra money for a dyno tune.

Yes TM plays a huge part in these newer cars. This is why the GTO's feel slow, well the TM and they are a little heavier.
