I traded in my 01' Trans Am WS6 a couple of weeks ago for a 06' GTO. Both are great cars.

I am happy with the trade and glad to be in a new ride. In three years I will be all set for a Camaro.

cant go wrong with the gto. more power smoother ride at very high speeds as well as low speeds. way better interior thats for sure. just one thing you'll hear alot on these forums is they're only real downside, the heavy weight 3800 lbs vs f-bodies 3500 coupe weight.
us gto owners get bashed on alot for our weight, but if ur reallly worried about it take out the back seat with a few more things and u will be down a few lbs or just modd it. gto all the way

hahahaha good one. another thing u will notice is alot of guys here being bias hold the ls1 f-body at the top of the list. yeah they're good but the gto's bigger block 364cid vs the ss 346cid makes up for the weight in the car, plus the gto can not only be a drag strip demon but a pro-tourer just look at the gto-r.

I dunno, I love my GTO, but I still would give my left nut for a 30th annv. T/A or a 10th annv. Firehawk... wouldn't give up the GTO, but the other....

gto is so much better, more comfortable, ls2 stock for stock is faster, and there are no bulges in the floor.

I ditched my 98 TA for an 06 GTO a few months ago. The TA had lots of mods...and I couldn't be happier.

A test drive will tell you everything you need to know. I'll put it like this. My old 11 second Trans Am was a pretty good looking car, and the GTO looks nice now too. My GTO is a full second slower at the track than the Trans Am. I loved driving the Trans Am. It was a blast. I want to drive the GTO because its so nice to drive and I enjoy the experience so much. I actually look for excuses to take the GTO places just to drive it. The Trans Am was never like that for me. GTO ??? in my book! The only time I'd be about an F-Body over my GTO was if it was a pure weekend car (which is why I'm considering picking up a convertible M6 SS in a few years) or if I wanted to build it to drag.

The GTO is a great car and I enjoy driving mine when im not in a"racing" mood. It is very comfy and i often forget i am in a performance car. That is also the downside in my opinion-it doesnt feel sporty. Thats why i got an 01 T/a- to balance my mood swings!

Well, I own both. 01 WS6 and 06 GTO both 6-speeds. I love my TA, it makes me feel like im in a real muscle car with the long font end. My gto is stock and rides much nicer, but just feels to much like an import. Its fast so that makes up for it!! The one thing I hate is if your tall like me you'll hit your head on the A-piller. I plan on trading it in on 09 camaro or just get a C6. Really I think you can't go wrong with any of the three other than that price tag on the new camaro.
