Had a chance to shake out my Porsche 944 LS1 converted car at the track this past Saturday.

Everything went well, but I'm wondering what oil temps everyone is seeing with this motor and what is considered "safe" if you're using a good quality synthetic oil?

I've got a large Mocul oil cooler but I'm wondering if I need to either go larger or try to optimize it more...

 

I have a 9x12 Setrab with a fan.
I saw 240* this weekend.
85* ambient

A few weeks ago, I saw 285* with 100* ambient.

 

Ok, sounds like I'm in the range then. My Mocul is 11x7x3, I was seeing around 250F with oil levels a bit low. I'm hoping with the oil up to the top of the hash marks the temps will hold 230F ish...

 

I'll see 290 to 305 deg by the end of a track day on my LS6.

 

Is that with an oil cooler? That's pretty toasty!

Saw 210s max. yesterday on track with about 80 degree ambient at VIR. Lots of WOT in 5th and 6th with the two long straights.

Just switched over to a really big Earl's cooler and dry sump so the combo of the two probably helps in an M3 LS2.
