Default Harris Hill Road - Austin Texas

In case some of you central Texas guys aren't aware, a road track is opening in very early 2008 south of Austin. It will actually be a "club" that you join and pay dues... similar concept to a track in south Houston. I checked it out this past week, they are in the process of laying asphalt. The scenery is gorgeous and the course looks like a lot of fun, with quite a bit of elevation change surprisingly.

I'm pretty excited about it, my camaro is getting a road race suspension set up soon.

See more info below.

Sadly it is only for street cars. It might be fun for some lapping and instructing, but from what I undestand, no racing.

From what I understand ... UP-scale street cars.

I read somewhere (can't find the link) that the owner(s) of the track is/are some sort of exotic car dealer and putting this in to cater to customers.

If you want to stretch the legs of that road race suspended Camaro, Texas World Speedway is a GREAT place to plant the right foot.

I'll be there in April and August with NASA-Tx - www.nasatx.com

The principal on the project is the ex-Lotus franchise owner. He sold the dealership to concentrate full-time on the road course.

It's open to ANY kind of cars, including anything with an LS1, etc.

So far, everything from NA Miatas to TT Porsches (and everywhere in between) have run out there.

Costas is correct, though, that there will be no flag-to-flag racing.

All correct except nothing has run out there yet... except for the owner's old Cayanne Turbo through the brush!

However, asphalt is almost complete and laps will commence soon.

Not many, but a few early members have already run. VERY recently.

looks nice, but also looks like its another yuppie playground. theres one being built in eastern PA. takes 5K to join...as a 'lower member'. to join for life.....OVER 30K. to top it off, they will NOT have open track days....members only, 365 days a year. how they expect to stay in business, i dont know. i hope the yuppie scum folds up in bankruptcy.

if this place has open track days, then all the better. theres one going up in south jersey that will have open days. much more real person friendly.

Is this one going to be in the Cherry Hill area, or even further south of there??

Where is the eastern Pa. one going to be?? (NOT that I would/could ever join, but I'm just curious where they would put it with all of the development going on in that area. There are already BIG noise/traffic complaints from the residential locals concerning the Pocono track.)

the NJ one is in millville. going to be called thunder raceway i think. the PA one is out in the sticks. about 2hrs from me. on a few hundred acres of private land. supposedly already got permits and such, might have started construction. i dont see how they can ever afford to keep it going, with barely half the membership they expected at this point. i asked the lady giving their little presentation, what if they dont get the membership they need to start construction? her answer....."well we'll just raise the prices till we meet what we need." yeah, thats ******* brilliant. you cant get enough people at $X, so why not make it even MORE expensive.....dumbass yuppies.

I don't know if they've addressed that yet... email eric@harrishillroad.com and he can probably give you an answer.

There are others in Texas that don't require a membership. I wouldnt limit my options to this track only as there are 5 other road courses in the state (TMS, TWS, MSRC, MSRH, and EP.
