Just thought I would drop in and say hi. My 2006 CTS-V got rear ended a few weeks ago, and in my search for a new daily driver I ended up with a 99 Vette. Has 180,000 miles on it but has a rebuilt engine, transmission, brakes, interior and stereo. Only has a few problems like the right side turn signals blink fast, a/c doesnt blow cold even though the compressor kicks on, and the telescoping steering wheel doesnt work, and its wrapped.

The previous owner had Speed Inc do all the work this spring. The interior used to be tan, but he had the shop install sound deadening, new carpet and seats.
Holy S the PO just spent a ton of money on that thing. I imagine that you picked it up fairly cheap?
Yeah I thought it was crazy the amount that he put into it. I have more receits for $900 brakes, $2k for interior, and $3,300 for the wrap which I will take off as soon as I have some free time. I know I took a chance on what the paint will look like. I don't really know what is considered cheap, but I dont think I did too bad, I only paid $3500 more than he did for it a year ago. The only thing I miss about my CTS-V was the amount of storage it had compared to the Vette.
Much MUCH nicer without the wrap!
Not that I'm partial to the C5 or anything...
I damaged my engine with a missed shift. So I'm looking at a rebuild over the winter. Planning on about 550-600 RWHP.

Thanks, everyone seems to like it better. I did get alot of attention from the wrap, but I dont really like attention for being odd. Plus everyone wanted to touch it without asking, who touches another persons car? I wish the guy would have spent that $3300 on changing the gearing and on some nicer wheels. Thats a bummer on the damaged engine, atleast you have a reason to build it up. Hope you get the horsepower you are looking for.
Why on Gods earth did the PO wrap a car that was in nice shape?
386rwhp/363rwtq is what it said in the youtube video description. I dont think they bothered porting the heads while they were in there. I think the guy was big on wraps, he had a newer camaro that they did up like bumble bee, this one was modeled after megatron and his wifes vette was done up after Optimusprime.
I had a chance to get under the car yesterday for the first time. Looks like I get to do axle seals and a power steering cooler in the future. Good thing they left the stock balancer on while they had the engine out.
I had a 99 back in the day I retro fitted a HUD into. The fast blinking is because you have a front turn signal out. They sit real low in the car and if you hit a puddle or it's raining water gets inside and blows the bulb. Happened to me all the time.
I already took care of the turn signals, the previous owner installed switchback LED's and didn't install the hyperflash harness. I found it laying in the hatch. The a/c was low so I need to look for the leak, and the telescoping wheel doesn't work because of the race seats. I'm starting to figure out the old girl. I've been thinking that I should check and see if the steering lock fix has been done, its on the long list of things I need to accomplish soon.

There are some great sticky threads over on corvette forum in the c5 section. Anything non motor related you can run by those guys.
