Well here we go again. Some of you may remember the recent build thread where I went through the LS swap. Ran the car at the track best Et was 11.9 and 120 on motor and 11.3 on nitrous. Now I'm going turbo!!!
Got an intercooler kit from CX racing.
Turbonetics 7668 ball bearing turbo. Should be good for 550 wheel.
Some shots of the car. Plan for today and it work on work on joining the exhaust into a y and connecting the turbo flange with the turbo in its final location.
curious on your 3" setup..as i have to put one on my ls notch..are those the speed eng. headers? if so mine look like the d.s. header exhaust pipe cant go straight back to the rear as the stock crossmember mount (at the sub-frame) will be in the way? are you still using stock location trans cross member? thanks for the info!

I used the factory four cylinder trans cross member with the 4l80e just had to move it rearward and make some mounts for it. The exhaust fit with no issues.
I know the hole looks big but I plan on cleaning up the engine bay when I build the motor so I'll make it look pretty later.
This is just below the turbo mount on the passenger side plenty of room for the waste gate. Just need to get some tubbing to mount it it and it's pretty much done.
I was gonna drill a hole in the fender but decided it would be much cleaner running it towards the ground.

How you mount it is more important than where. You want it to be at an angle in the same direction as the exhaust flow. A picture is worth a....you know.
As for where, I have a preference to put it right after the 2 pipes merge, but space, turbo placement and the merge collector design forces your decision.
Today I was able to mount the waste gate. To me this was the best place and direction I could think of considering ground clearance and limited space I had to work with.
5/8 fitting going into the front of the oil pan for the oil drain.
