Default Anyone running the Vortech LS Swap kit?

I've seen this kit in several different articles, but haven't found anyone actually running it. Was just curious if anyone here has it, and if so, what are you running it in?

It's just a Vortech...with no intercooler. It'll probably work the same as any kit of the same.

Looks to have decent belt width, a bit tight around the water pump inlet in terms of belt clearance, but otherwise ok.

I would like to see a good spring tensioner on it though if it was ever to make any decent power, but of course that would vary massively for each build.

I agree, not going to get a lot of boost with a manual belt tensioner. Bob

Just curious why you wouldn't be able to get a of boost with a manual tensioner? Can't you add more tension with a manual style than you could with a spring loaded tensioner?

Not saying a strong spring loaded setup wouldn't be better to account for belt stretch, but for the time being I have been running my procharger setup up to 25psi with a manual tensioner and had no issues. Then again, I am running a 12rib belt.

The problem is, that under load the belt stretches. With any manual tensioner....you try and pre-load everything to accommodate this stretch to try and remain under some tension when the belt is at max stretch...the reality is you end up overtightening to try and achieve this. It's counter productive.

A strong spring tensioner can maintain tension on the belt even when it has stretched under load because it always tracks the belt

Although the kit above is a base kit so not a big power item. So it would probably be fine with a manual tensioner.

Procharger with a higher internal stepup ratio generally use larger pulleys, so more belt wrap so perhaps less likely for belts to slip.

But a fixed tensioner is not the best solution...ever

There are several videos online to give you an idea. Check out how much this tensioner is moving and how much the belt is stretching. So how much would you need to preload a manual tensioner setup to try and compensate for that ? You'd be pulling the **** out of everything, damaging bearings etc

Did you ever go with this setup?

The only info i have found is a CarCraft write up on their Orange Peel Chevelle.

This is not my 1st choice (i want an A&A bracket with a Vortech) but a good friend of mine has offered his new kit to me for a great price. I am considering it.

lol yes, the Vortech is brand new, but just picked up a 403 and the V3 might be maxed out for it. Rated 775. Also have an incomplete P1SC for corvette C5 just missing the bracket that bolts to the head. Probably more if I look hard enough lol.

I have a Fox Mustang. No room for a reverse rotation supercharger like the A&A setup.

I've also been looking at the Vortech Ls Swap kit and wondering what it would do on my L92 headed, LQ4 in my 78' C10. I thought there would be a lot more interest in this kit since you can purchase one for the truck accessories for under 3k!
