Default Wood skid, engine cradle stand dimensions?

Wondering if someone can help or if someone has done this, a friend mentioned crate motors are delivered this way?

I'm having a LQ4 delivered on a skid and need to know some dimensions so I can build a rectangular box for the engine to sit into, using 2"x8" or 2"x10"? Basically I need dimensions so the oil pan can sit into this while the weight of the motor rests on the wood perimeter while on a skid. I'll reinforce the 2x8's or whatever size of weed needed with some brackets.

Any help would be appreciated. Tks.

Should be able to find all the measurements you need here. https://ls1tech.com/forums/conversio...-oil-pans.html

I like to use these, just cut the front bolt hole off both sides and it works on a Ls motor. https://www.googleadservices.com/pag...Qwg8IJg&adurl=

Thanks tug686spd, when you mention to cut off the front bolt hole, do you mean the angled flange up to the vertical post, see the arrow in the attached pic.
Do you know if any of the bolt holes line up to fasten the engine to the cradle or is it to just hold and wheel around.
Thanks again.

Yes on the front angled leg. And yes the remaining 6 bolts line up to bolt motor to stand.

And since it's for sbc/BBC it comes with standard bolts to mount engine to stand so you'll have to find some metrics.

Tug686spd, really appreciate your input.........looks like Jegs is gonna get a order from me. I have some LS conversion bracket bolts that I can use to bolt it up while in the cradle.
Thanks again

Not a prob, keep an eye on them and a couple time a year they're $29.99 shipped. Don't hurt to have a couple for that price, you never know when you'll find a deal on Craigslist for a motor. What are you swapping?

SBC LT1 to a LQ4 iron shortblock freshened up, mild Lunati cam, LS3 heads and intake. Time to convert to fi, problem is all this leads to Tremec, BH, driveshaft, gas tank & pump and so on. Going to drive it as is until I accumulate almost everything then I'll start the actual conversion.
Its all going into a 1st Gen Camaro.

Nice looking ride! I joined this site after buying a Ls1/t56 drop out for my 68, sadly haven't finished it yet. She's been off the road since 98 if I'm going to be completely honest. Keep going for the instant gratification rather than really having to work for it. Here's my current project https://ls1tech.com/forums/drag-raci...arts-pile.html and I swapped one of my old mans 55's this summer https://ls1tech.com/forums/conversio...-hard-top.html

I like that 4th gen, colour & all........I'm sure you're having fun with that one. And your Dad's 55 shoebox looks really nice as well.
If wasn't late I'm sure I can pick your brains about some conversion stuff, like your Dad's headers. Gonna hit the sack....end of the week and I'm wiped. I'll continue this convo to a PM cause I've got some questions and I'm sure you can help with some answers for me. Thanks again for the cradle info.

Here's my ghetto fab engine stand. It's a Harbor Freight moving dolly with a couple 2x4s on it, and some C5 Corvette motor mounts.

I call that nicely crude, but very effective!
