Default couple of questions about my recent swap...

i installed a 350 carbed motor into a 1996 camaro. right now i have 2 switches one runs the HEI and the other runs the starter...i hate this effect i want to use the damn key to start and turn off the car can any one tell me what wires to use out of the ignition...i was told this is it correct.

reds power
orange is on in run only position
pink is on in run or start position
brown is accessories
purple goes to the starter..

i haven't even got under the dash to see if these wires exists

also what the most base timing i should be running its just a heads cam and intake 350 nothing crazy and its on pump gas.

Timing, 8 deg initial should be ok, 10 tops if it like it. as for ignition, find the red wire under the hood that went to the coil, it will power on and off with the key.

yea all the wires that went under the hood as well as the computer are gone. all i got left is whats under the dash so i have to run something straight to the key switch i guess.

Alright, there should be a big red wire that is a 12V output that will cycle on and off with the key, that should be your ticket.

Hell, you must have a hacked up setup if it does nothing at all man. Mine works fine except for the starter, i have a button.

I cut my harness right outside the firewall in the engine bay, all except for the big purple wire which like you said is the starter signal. For the HEI I just tapped into the ign. side under the steering column. Everything else I left alone and it works like its supposed to, I even have the timed delay for all the accesories.

where was the harness cut on the vehicle? If you cant find the wires on the column then you might be able to finth them above the kickpanel up in the dash, this is where they run to get to the back of the fuse panel.
