Berger Chevy - $100K F-body 427CI - Wow!
Anyone see the Hot Rod magizine article about the limited edition F-bodies they are creating; they will cost nearly $100K? I think the article said they will build 60 or so cars.
Goodies include a 427CI with a c5R block and Callies 4" crank, Corvette brakes, etc.
...These are nice cars that will surely be classics in the years to come. The price seems very steep to me, however...

well, considering it doesn' even have C5R Heads, and good intake, what a freakin POS! It's not a Yenko or Baldwin, or Dana, and never will be! It's also a far cry from a true 69 ZL1. Even an LPE car would be cheaper. Sorry to offend those Berger 427 owners on here, but c'mon $100k

Oh, now you've all done it. Picking on a dealership in my own back yard. They still have Camaro's on the lot if anyone is interested in buying one still, lol. And the price tags don't include warranties on the cars that have the stage II setup (just a cam swap). Those I think are around 40 or 50k. Just not worth the money in my opinion.

What makes it even a poorer deal, the two cars that they were showing at Super Chevy at Atlanta Dragway earlier in the year made under 500 RWHP, pretty lame for 427s.

Really - less than 500HP at the wheels? Uhg!
It looked like they built-em with some great internal parts, ...not sure I would go with the metal intake but everthing else, ported LS6 heads, cam, rotating assembly looked like a good choice for the engine... ...at least better than some other Gen 3 big motors I've seen in other magazines...
...the rear is a stock 10 bolt with 4:10 gears - I hope it is covered by the warranty...
$100K is WAY too much; I wonder if they will drop the price after they sit unsold for a long time?? ..time will tell....
...maybe they will only build a few and see how they sell; although the way you get discounts from the after-market providers is to order 60 or so of everything you need; right? I bet if you ordered 60 Callies 4" cranks you could buy them for $1K each...

Alright i was on the hot rod power tour and all the berger Zl1 supercars were there and if i had the money i would of bought one right then i dont care how much it costs they are sweet cars and there were 69 made and its alot more than a cool engine and transmission my prediction is they are going to be like the 69 Zl1 in 69 nobody wanted to pay and extra 4,000 for the zl1 package since that was alot of money back then but the ones that did were very smart theyre goin for about 200,000 or more now so when these rare cars get older their price value will jump up (just what i think)

It is apparent that no one here recognizes the value of these cars. Only 500rwhp you say? These are NOT drag cars, nor are they dyno queens. They are well built, reliable 427 motors. These are built for the car collector, not for the average guy that wants to go fast. Do you think if it was 1969 and the Yenkos had just come out, that you guys would be ******* them, too? This is the Yenko and Berger and Baldwin Motion of the 21st century. They are COLLECTOR CARS, and are destined for a life in a well protected garage.

What a rip off.
But there will always be those idiots that will buy them.

Some folks make a lot of money and to them buying a special car like that is no problem...
I got the article too, cars are neat, but they need 12 bolt rearends for sure.

Re: Berger Chevy - $100K F-body 427CI - Wow!
I to also live in the same town as Derty where Berger is located. I think these car's are indeed cool looking but $100.00?
IMO that is a huge amount of money for a Camaro. Don't get me wrong I own a Z28 and like the Camaro as a car but look at difference of price from new stock SS(assume $28,000.00 to the car in question, your talking $72,000.00 difference plus don't forget the lucky owners also have to pay luxury tax besides the state tax. And some of these options Berger priced like $6,000.00 for a bolt in cage and the stock 7 5/8 10 bolt with 4.56 gears all this for $100,000.00. Granted its not a race car but WOW!
The odd thing is how come other GM dealerships and correctly me if I'm wrong one for example Gibb Chevy was selling signature signed(Fred Gibb Family)ZL1 Camaro's with 427 C5R motor's for $70,000.00 to $75,000.00 and the car's are very comparable?
I guess the question is will these car's appreciate in value like the 69 ZL1 after 33 years? Personally I doubt it because Berger my be only offering 68 0r 69 but the problem is other GM dealerships are providing comparable Camaro's with like features they to are calling ZL1. Don't forget that in 69 GM assembled the ZL1 Alumn 427 Big Block Chevy who assembled the C5R motor for the Berger cars? Last I checked I didn't think GMPP offered a C5R crate motor assembled nor does GM offer one as a replacement to bolt in. I didn't see any information as to whom did the machine work or assembly for the Berger C5R motors.
I just think Berger is out of there mind to even ask this price but then again Matt Berger is the only one laughting all the way to the bank.
Congratulations to those luck 30 or so that have purchased one. I think these lucky guy's should get there own thread and post a picture of them selfs next to there car's. I would think others would like to see who actually spent $100,000.00 for one of these cars.

Fbodies are great, but I have a long list of cars I'd buy before a $100K fbody. Actually, that isn't even on the list and it never will be.
