The reason why I think these cars are not getting auctioned off for more is because they are being offered with a Salvage title or sold on Bill of Sale only without a title. Plus they are sold "As Is" which in some regards is less than desirable.

I'm guessing that the Pacecar might barely break $30k

^^^^they been running this **** all week on speed and i have been completely amazed at the prices. these cars are going for little to nothing. and yeah the titles are fucked up on them and depending on where you live would determine if you could even title it for driving on the road.

I can't believe it went for so cheap!

The title ordeal seems a bit dumb. These are mint and probably never driven cars.

Pacecar final auction price was $30,800 after fees. Which means it's auction price was close to $28k.

Which is what I figured it would do.

kinda sad. Just a few years ago the other track used pacecar brought $50,600.

Someone got a great deal on a piece of not only Daytona history, but Firebird history as well.

Salvage title means GM sells them as is w/no warranty, thus prices went cheap. Sucks having a new car with salvage title.

I was out there for my 10th year in a row. I saw these cars, but did not scour them (I was busy coctailing). The GM stuff bombed as a combo of title issues and crap market. In general, the quality of cars, at BJ anyway, was the worst I have ever seen. The no reserve thing is too risky for the great cars to come out. It was a bummer. I still always enjoy myself. Its a great weekend and good to see people I only see once or twice a year. If you have not gone, you should go at least once.

By the way, excuse my acronym ignorance,,,,,,,,,,,,,,but what is CETA????

Thanks,

John

I noticed the cars were selling for less than they have in the past few years. I would say our economic problems have caught up with the collector car market. There were some great cars though. I watched a '94 Lingenfelter 383 Formula sell for $27,000. I was surprised that car went for so much money, but it was practically brand new.

on tv saturday i saw a 1970 gto judge and a 69 ss camaro both tribute cars but with recent frame off restorations go for mid teens and the low 20's, saw a real 1969 396 ss elcamino also w/a recent frame off go for low 20's. this is a good time to be a buyer if you have $. also, when these cars went through the block the place looked to be almost empty.

they are just too new to get much.

Salvage title?? No thats wrong AFAIK. Has nothing to do with warantys either.

Many GM cars sold had "SCRAP" titles. But many were developmental cars with tons of modifications.

Since the CETA cars were just normal factory cars with full VINs, I doubt they would be hard to title....if they did not come with one.
