Default 02 formula ws6?

I've done some reading on here about this and I'm a little confused so I looked up my own car. According to my VIN it states that my car is a Firebird Formula. My door sticker indicates that I also have the factory WS6 package. Does this mean that I have one of the rare factory Formula WS6's? I do have leather and T tops along with power everything.

Not 100% sure, but I don't think that power and leather and T-tops plays into the equation.

'00 was the last year for the WS6 Formula. That's a fact.

If you have a ram air hood, rims, and badge on your '02, then it's a fake.

You're saying they put a fake door sticker on it?

if the door sticker calls for ws6 than its a rare ws6 formula, to be extra sure compare the vin number at the lower driverside corner of the windsheild and the one on your door sticker to be sure there wasnt a door replacement ever....

I went through every option on the door and compared it to the options in the car, they match 100%. I am the second owner of this car and I purchased it from the delear that the original owner bought it from. They can assure me that there were no modifications and that it is a true WS6. I am calling to request all the service records for the vehicle to verify that no significant work has been done to it.

If it is infact a true Formula WS6 how does this effect its value? It currently only has 17,500 miles at contains all the original equiptment and is still in VERY good contidion.

Your car is a Trans Am... they didn't make '02 WS6 Formulas. All Trans Ams by VIN show up as being a "Formula", because a "Formula" is simply a Firebird with a V8.. which a Trans Am is. But I'd bet a dime to a dollar your car rolled out of the factory with Trans Am badges on the side, because there is no such thing as a '02 Formula WS6.

I'm saying that someone with less than 10 posts is confused at what a "Formula" is.

Let's see a picture of this '02 WS6 Formula... because anyone who knows anything about 4th gen Firebird production will tell you that there is no such thing, as ASC stopped making Formula WS6s after the '00 model year.

Does it have this spoiler and front fascia on it?

I'm betting this "Formula" looks a little more like this... and on the registration is says "Formula" or something.. like most Trans Ams do.

It does infact have Trans Am badges on the side of it. I'm more confused as to what the title should say. Should it be labled as a Trans Am or a Formula? All the paperwork that I filled out at the delearship stated that it was a Formula.

I dont know about the spoiler, the car is at work. But the second of the 2 is the nose I have. Most of my confusion stemmed from my creditor saying that it was a formula only worth 15k in this condition.

All Trans Ams, by VIN, show up as being a "Formula".

I'll bet you also have the RPO code Y82 on the door sticker, which is the Trans Am option. If your car's nose looks like the second one, it's definitely a Trans Am.

I ran into a similar problem with my Impala's. I had a 94 caprice that was titled as a caprice and a 94 impala that was titled as a caprice. I dumpped the 94 caprice for a 95 and it was titled as CLS IMPSS or something to that sort. I traced it back to 94 having 2 diffrent quarter designs and in 95 and later went to one quarter design. The only thing seperating the two was the WX6 notation that was the "ss" package.

Actually they did, they made 14 of them. All of which went straight to GMMG and were made just for GMMG.

The car is a Firebird Formula. Trans-Am and WS6 are both options packages. Just like SS is an option package on a Z/28, which is how my car shows up on a Carfax even though it is a "real" SS.

Oh, and it shows up on my insurance as a "2002 Hatch", lol.

My 2002 WS6 Trans Am shows up as a Formula/Trans Am on my insurance statement, which they get right off the VIN. You have a WS6 Trans Am. And by the way, leather and power seats, etc and most of the options came standard on the last year '02.

DREvyl. You changed your picture, most becoming. See you around the neighborhood. Well the NW anyway.

Yeah, but that's GMMG... I mean... they didn't make a Camaro SS in Electron Blue, but you could buy one from GMMG.

rcjoe.. sweet car, man... that's beautiful.

I dont know if anyone has said this yet, but I dont want to read all this...

The true names for these cars through your VIN, insurance, your state DMV is Pontiac Firebird Formula Trans Am WS6. This is how you see it when getting a KBB price too I believe, and insurance quotes.

I was curious so I checked KBB. It does differentiate a Formula from a Trans Am. Then you can check the optional "Ram Air Handling Pkg", which is listed as an option on the 2000 Formula but not on the 2002 Formula.

On a related note, the Firehawk is not listed anywhere in KBB. The NHRA Package is listed though.

Damn, this gets complicated!
