Sorry if this is a stupid question but what's the difference between the pin on and bolt on hoods?

I really want to do this, but I have a question. Why was the last gp they did, either on ls1.com or ls1tech.com cheaper bolt-on ws6 hood = $375? Why is it more expensive now, what about shipping? Thanks constrict.

Default VFN Hood GP is a GO!!

I just got off the phone with Jean at VFN and she told me they are willing to do another GP on their hoods.

For those of you who may not already be aware, VFN has been generating a lot of buzz in the LS1 community for their low priced excellent quality hoods.

The deal is going to be $75 off ANY hood they sell. You will want to check their webpage at www.vfnfiberglass.com for their current prices, but as of this email, heres the prices of some of their more popular hoods:

LS1 WS6 factory style bolton hood: $480 - $75 = $405
LS1 WS6 factory style pinon hood: $350 - $75 = $275
LS1 WS6 4" style bolton hood: $575 - $75 = $500
LS1 SS factory style 3" bolton hood: $575 - $75 = $500
LS1 SS Stingray style bolton hood: $465 - $75 = $390

Once again, they sell many style hoods for our cars, and even other cars, so go to their website and look through their full catalog and just subtract $75 from the prices you see.

To get in on this offer, we will need 10 people to place their orders by the end of March (Monday March 31). You will need to contact Jean at (630)543-0232, and give her customer code "MECK".

The reason the prices are higher is because they raised their general prices across the board on all their hoods.

Still though, these prices are excellent. Try to find a better fitting WS6 hood for $405!!! The pin on hood is a very lightweight (15 lbs) hood that is only designed for strip use. It cannot handle the vibrations and abuse of a daily driver. It does not latch on like a stock hood does and requires hood pins for it to be kept in the down position. The pin on hood should not be considered an option for a street driven car.

As for shipping and other questions relating to the hoods, I am merely organizing the GP, for any questions about the hoods or the shipping, you will want to direct those towards VFN. Give em a call, they're real friendly!

I asked them for the LS1-tech special when I called and got the price above so I'm assuming I already have an order placed on this GP as of Thursday. It might have even shipped already. Thanks guys for setting this up.

Does this GP apply to all hoods? I just want a stock flat bolt on. If it does I'm in.

Sorry just reread, I'll be giving them a call on Monday as well.

I didnt specify whether she meant any F-body hood, or any hood they sell. I would probably think they would do it for any hood they sell.

Give her a call and ask. As of yesterday, there were only 2 confirmed people who had placed their orders. With the people here that are comitting this upcoming week, we should have no problem getting 10 people.

I will be placing my order this week as well.

I'll be in on it! I need the "stock-flat pin-on" hood. By the way, how much does the stock steel hoods that come on Z28's weigh?

I am going to call Jean on Friday and see how many people they have had call. I'm sure we will have a few last minute stragglers, but I don't think we'll have a problem getting 10.

As an FYI, some people have asked me this, but this GP is not limited to 10. We just need 10 for it to be a go. We can have more than 10 people get in on this deal, so don't be afraid of being left out.

Okay, I want to know exactly what to say, and to whom I need to ask for when I call VFN. So many times, I'll call a place only to sound like a complete idiot to the other person on the other end, that has no idea what the hell I'm talking about or asking for. Also who do I need to use as a reference in the group purchase. Will they know anything about the "LS1 Tech Group Purchase?" I'm just tryin' to make it smoothe that's all.

I just ordered my hood from them about a week and a half ago.
If they can include me, that would give you another order.
I would of course like to get the break in price.
I'll call tomorrow and check
