Raped a turbo 300zx and '99-up Cobra from a dig I was cruising in my girlfriends car the other night(10:30 or so) to see how well it drove with the torque management deleted. Decided to head over to my friends house to see what he was doing except I got sidetracked by an a$$load of tire smoke pouring out of the Applebee's parking lot. Now how could I pass that without checking it out.
Rolled in there nice and easy and there's about 15-20 imports doing burnouts. I head into the parking lot a little deeper to do some fishing

Just as I'm coming in a white turbo/tturbo 300zx is pulling out. As we pass,he throws a rev. Ohhh yeah the fish has taken the bait
. Dropped it to 1rst and burned a quick 180. We made the right out of the parking lot and ended up right a red light. I stopped about 6ft short of the line. Just as the light was changing yellow on other side, I lit the Nitto's up and put a lil heat in em. Burned up to the light and got ready to go. 2 seconds and the light is green. Gave her about 70% throttle outta the hole for 1 sec and then went WOT.
Straight up smoked him
.Now this is no exaggeration,5-6 cars by 60 so I just lifted. Talk about sleeping at the light and some serious turbo lag.
I rolled my window down to chat but he didn't want to talk. We ended up doing a couple short runs (50-65,50-80) and I'll tell you once he spooled he was able to walk me slowly(about the way a lightly modded M6 usually walks an A4). However,in my girl's car it's all about going from the dig.
. Caught another red light and the outcome was the same. 5-6 cars by 60. I rolled the window down again to say nice runs but he still didn't feel like talkin. Oh well.
After the 15 minute detour I finally made it to my friends house. I told him about the race and we had a laugh. He jumped in the car and we headed back out to see if we could find someone else to play with. The roads were pretty dead now, so I didn't think we would have much luck.
Hold on, check the rear view, and those are Mustang lights coming up hard through some light traffic. He comes up on the right and its a very clean black Cobra w/chrome rims and an aftermarket hood.
I was really hoping for a '03 but there was no schweeet sound of the blower.
He starts jumping it and we do some quick bursts to feel each other out but nothing crazy cuz of traffic in front of us. The car was no slouch. I'm like "Come onnnnn red light". Yes,and the prayers are answered. Next light goes red and the car in my lane goes through leaving us lined up ready to roll.
I staged the same as when I ran the 300zx. The couple seconds before the light changed I heard him clicking througth the gear box and inching the light so I knew he was going to go. Green light,70% throttle for 1 sec, feathered the gas because the tires broke lose on the paint stripe on the road, got traction, then WOT. Layed the SMACK down. Same deal. about 5-6 cars by 70 and lifted. I think he gave up like 2-3 secs after the light went green. We caught the next light(me going left and him going right) and I rolled down the window to give a thumbs up. He asked if the car was stock and said it sounded good. I started telling him what was done but some cars pulled in between us and cut the conversation short.
Both cars had comparable if not more power than the SS, but they just couldn't compete with the converter and DR's from a dig. All in all thats the most action I've seen in awhile. Just thought I'd share.Later.
