BONE stock A4 '00 Z28 VS '00 C5 M6 Cai/Catback
'00 Z28- Bone stock as it rolled off the showroom floor. A4 2.73 gears, stock filter, not even the free mods. Car has 120K on it.
'00 C5- CAI and Corsa exhaust.. 6 speed w/ 95K on it.
Both had passengers, vid was from inside camaro..
25-100mph.. C5 stayed in it, I let out.

I was just driving, not my car.

The outcome was expected.

With a really good driver, it wouldn't have mattered about your car... better gearing, lighter weight, more horsepower. Had he been able to drive the car to it's full potential, he would have bare minimum at least pulled you in 2nd or 3rd gear.

I love it.. That is all this thread will be, "C5 should have had a better driver".
Is that what we should tell the NUMEROUS other ls1/T56 owners that I have ran and never lost to? Only other ls1s I have ever lost to are A4s, in my A4. EVERYONE that owns an M6 and races an A4 and loses, if they are both stock, needs to learn how to drive.
It is awesome that if an A4 beats an M6 that the excuses is always "bad driver". That was not this case, even if it was.. There has to be a driver, period. On average (95% of the time) A4s are faster than M6s.
You didn't see him lose or gain any ground on the shifts did you? I think that right there should show you that he was a competent driver. I jumped out 1/2 a car from the get go and held EXACTLY that the entire run.

There's no shame in saying, "I lost to a car that very well could have beaten me had the driver been better." Of course that's not what happened this time, but you're gonna run into it sometime.

I think us A4 guys will keep taking our chances by outrunning drivers.

lemons keep up the defending of the A4's honor! Cuz I'm with ya- just because there are certain spots where our transmissions are at a disadvantage in a roll race, everyone then assumes that they are just slower, period. 'Bout time them drivers took there little 'row boats' back out to sea where they belong.

it kinda looks to me like he was reeling you back in even before you let out. on the hit you jumped out a car length or so, and he was pulling you back in, but never got even. its definitely a win, but if it had gone on any longer he would have came by you. how fast were you going when you let out?

Nice kill OP. Surprised to see the C5 get pulled that hard from the get-go. Did he say what gear he started in? 1 or 2 if it was 25mph? Are you still on stockish street tires?

I wish I had videos from when I was stock, the BS flags would be ridiculous.

25-100mph is a long enough race for me.
Crappy *** street tires and dead hook from any roll just about. 2.73 gears don't let you spin too much!

I am very aware that it's easier to be consistent with an automatic, but there are regular Joe's out there that will beat one every time in the 6spds. I've used this example before, but I saw a member of this site run a 12.99 @ 110mph in his '02 WS6 6spd with my own eyes, and that was with a 2.15 60' time. All he had was a lid. And for the record, most people that buy manual transmission cars do so because of the enjoyment of driving them, not because it's faster in a straight line.
