Thumbs up Turbo Civic vs 2v Mustang GT

Got my car Tuned finally Friday night, well technically Saturday at 12AM I left the shop. So I brought it out Saturday night to meet up with my friends on the Pike

Chilled, cruised - watched some races, talked to people and finally headed home when it started to drizzle out..

Met a guy that owned a Blue 5.0 and was talking to him at Burger King about our cars - he knows Hondas and was actually a pleasure to talk to about both cars.

On the way to the highway from the pike going home, I see 2 mustang GT's -
the 1 blue 5.0 (which had just some bolt-ons) and 1 99-04 style grey GT which at least had an exhaust.

Me and the 5.0 goose it past one another messin around, exchanging thumbs up - I then coast by the grey GT ... he then does a fly by so I decide lets have the 1st run with the new power.. I couldn't resist!

THE RACE:

I pulled up to him and nod, he points to the road to ask if I am game - i agree. He rolls his window down and yells "3 honks, but slow down" - at this point I am a bit nervous. I am on street tires and no traction bars and I was spinning the tires earlier just having fun.. But I agree anyway - we slow to about 40-45mph. I am in 2nd gear - He honks and we both hit at the same time... I was not in vtec so it was a sloppy start but once it hit I spun like a mad man hitting red line nearly instantly! I shift to 3rd and the same happens! so I hit 4th and my stupid clutch slipped! I look over and I still managed a car length on him!!! LOL - I pull off though because my exit was right ahead. Flashed my headlights and bounced.

I really need some tires and my traction bars installed and WAY MORE SEAT TIME!

My car has the following:
LS Bottom end, ARP Rodbolts, GSR head with Type R Cams, Skunk 2 intake manifold, turbo kit.

On a new Dynomite Dyno at 1500ft she made 310whp @ 13psi (car weighs 2600lbs bone stock). The ebay turbo and downpipe are killing me but not bad for cheap parts!

Thats funny as hell man. I'd love to get me a little sleeper like that but maybe once the TA's done I can think about putting money into something else. Traction is those car's biggest weakness but if you can get them to hook, they RIP!!

Yea I don't think I could be any happier with it. It's a fun inexpensive car that surprises people. Like any other car that should be low 12's maybe even high 11's it needs suspension lol - which is the next step of course.

In the mean time I hope to get comfortable in it and learn the ways of boosted FWD - since this is my 1st one. Went from AWD to RWD to FWD lol

And when I say spin the tires, I mean it was as if I wasn't going ANYwhere

Good kill!

Didn't realize you had a stock LS bottom end. Be careful as those don't seem to like more than 300whp for too long!

Thanks bro !

Yea I mean I have Nippon YCP pistons which are supposedly 40% stronger (but still cast) than stock, Nippon YCP nitride coated rings, race bearings, and ARP rod bolts

So its stock but not entirely, just the usual stuff people throw in for a decent running LS/V

To my surprise she made 240wtq which is what you typically see for 400whp LS/V cars, seems to be a decent combo

I will be taking it to get dyno'd again around here to compare dynos and elevation

GT35 turbo?

If you have an ebay "GT35" that is in no way, shape, or form, comparable to a Garrett GT35, and that sig is very deceiving.

Ummmm ok? Yes it's an ebay turbo, and I didnt say its Garrett or say what the GT stood for. It's a "t3/t4 gt35"

TURBO SPEC:
inlet 4"
outlet 2.5
compressor trim: .70 ar
compressor wheel : 57.36 /81.87 mm
exhaust wheel : 57.50 /73.60 mm
exhaust trim .63 ar
4 bolt downpipe flange
t3 flange

Do you want the link too??

its ok man, alot of people on here question everything that anyone says. and im not referring to anyone in particular, just internet forums in general, everyone thinks everyone else has nothing to do but lie about things just to get a "good kill" or "nice setup".

I'm not trying to be a dick, but when people read GT35 they're assuming 35R.

It's a "GT35" because the company that made it thinks they can sell more of them by naming it after one of the most famous Garrett turbos.

That said, the specs don't look bad. What rpm are you spooling at?

Oh my bad - sounded that way lol

It hits full boost almost instantly when vtec kicks in which is around 5500-6000 rpms (cant remember for the life of me right now lol) and I rev out to 8200rpm

I actually just put the traction bars on with my buddy and went for a rip to test it out - def WAY less wheel hop and less genuine instability! I am glad I bought it - now it needs some MT ET Streets like I have on the camaro
