Default messed around with a solstice GXP

so on my way back from doing an errand, i see this soltice with handicapped license plates. and he gets behind me rather quickly . so maybe he wants to mess around, so i go out to a country road on the edge of town (this was only a few blocks away anyway). so i give it a little go go juice and he is still on my ***!!. so i thought to hell with this... and i went WOT. and he slowly fell behind.

i get to a turn around point and he stops and says he always wanted to see one of these cars run, and he said he missed 3rd so thats why he fell behind . so i asked him if its the GXP, and sure enough it was.

then he continues about how he used to have a 69 road runner and blah blah..... so we turn around and face the other way ( the cross road was gravvel).

so he leaves the gravvel part first and guns it, so by the time i get on it i heard him hit 2nd already but that didnt matter, by the top of 1st i could tell i was gaining on him and by the top of 3rd i was on his bumper.

cool older guy smokin a ciggarette just curious about my car thats all.

this is the closest thing ive had to a race in about a year so i had to post lol.

The GXP's have the LNF that the Cobalt SS/TC's have (and the HHR SS) so they can be pretty quick. The RWD helps them actually able to get off the line too (hugger can attest to those issues) . Cool cars, I wish I saw a modded one around here. Ive tried fitting in a Solstice before, not good at all unless your short like someone said (Im 6'2).

They're cool little cars. Don't see them around much though, especially the GXP's. And I've never seen a modded one yet. I'm sure they respond great to mods though because I know the new turbo cobalts really wake up with a few things. I can't imagine those little cars are all that heavy either.

My dad has an 07 Solstice GXP w/ 11k miles on it and those babies are fun to drive. I too think it is funny that my nearly 50 yr old dad (6'0, 270lbs) is in that car.

When the warranty runs out he wants to do some mods like Stage 2 and exhaust

Good to see an Iowa guy having fun

He wants to do all the aftermarket exhaust stuff and Stage 2 at once. His warranty is due to run out soon anyway so it might be soon anyway lol keep in mind it is a 07 and GM only did 3yr/36k on their GXP's. I think he has like 2 months left of warranty

if you go over to some of the solstice forums. apparently the solstice gxp something about the pcm/ecm make them hard to tune much. i just remember thinking about getting one but then after reading some forums came to the conclusion they were a pain to mod. this was a couple years ago though so...

trifecta and a few other guys have figured it out.
lots of power to be found in just a tune.

If you get a TUNE make sure make sure to stay under 24PSI at Full boost. There are issues with rings and I am probably the first to destroy the 2.0 turbo engine with boltons and an HP tune. I hit 26 PSI.. It was fun and fast but I blew the engine and I spent months fighting the dealers to fix it. LOL They did and Im back to just a Stage Kit which is plenty.

I call there is no street racing in IA

I just picked up an '07 Cobalt SS as my daily driver. It's the stupidcharged version, but is still fun to run around in (the 33MPG it's been averaging doesn't suck either). I've read up on what they can get out of them with some of the mods (including the factory stuff Marc mentions) and it's pretty impressive.

I've seen a couple of Solstice GXP's running around and wondered how quick they were. Good kill
