Default Race against a rare car

So I am on my way to work this evening and get off the interstate within about a 1/4 mile of work. As I come up to a stoplight a see a nice red Acura NSX with some nice looking wheels on it, but not blingy though, more like a trackworthy setup.

Anyways, as I approach the stoplight it turns green before I get there, but the NSX kind of waits on me. So, I keep it about 20 mph and slowly roll by as I get next to him he hammers it, in what seems to be first gear. I keep it in third and just put the hammer down, he stayed beside me for a second but as I got more into my powerband I began to pull away, just as I start pulling I hear him hit the rev limiter. At this point I let off because we were on a city street and there was no reason to stay in it any longer and he goes flying by as a I have to stop because of traffic in my lane. I am sure he had some mods because it sounded pretty healthy but it still didn't have enough to drive around me. I never see any NSX's around so I thought it was cool to actually get a run with one. They are beautiful cars too.

I know they are more of a road course or auto x car. But I was MMOB, as the GTO guys say, and he started it lol. I would own one but not over my Vette, I don't have the money for both lol.

You forget vettes aren't really supposed to be straight line cars either. I would bet my pay check a z06 or even a vette would destroy a nsx on a track. Either way nice kill, there is a pretty nasty nsx running around here from what I've heard.

i dont think the vette being in 3rd at 30mph put him at any advantage.

Great run, and yes they are beautiful cars... but the 97+ models run neck-and-neck with C5s all the way up to top speed, so if he was in 1st and you were in 3rd he probably would have pulled you in the beginning. I'd be willing to wager he was in 2nd.

Yeah I have no way of knowing what gear he was in. Do you know how the gears run in those? Do they have pretty short ratios?

4.062 final drive... 1st gear is either a 3.066 or 3.071 depending on year.

People say that, but it still outran cars that cost three times as much and made nearly twice the power on a race track...

The NSX never even broke into 12s stock.

My wife is in love with Nsx's. There was a blue one for sale in town at a local exotic dealership, 2004ish I think with 10,000 miles on it. They wanted $40,000!!! I actually contemplated it but when I sat inside of it I was very dissapointed, the interior of those cars are pathetic for the price tag, I felt like I was in a old Honda Civic.

Gorgeous...

Off topic her but...wasnt your corvette black?

And also whatever happened to the E55 vs V conundrum?
