Sure, a 2v may be capable of high 12s/low 13s with that setup, but this one isn't going to do it.

Marc has ran his car, no need to continue bench racing it.

Little update on the thread.

Drove my moms 06 matrix xr the other day on the Fwy not expecting ****... I later saw an 06+ civic sedan driving on the next lane to me for a while... Seeing that the Freeway was about to split, i saw the civic's blinker turn on like he was about to merge in my late to take the same ramp.

Apparently he did not want to pull back and merge in my lane behind me, so he proceeded to push the throttle a little to overtake me (Typical LA ego)
Being the dick that i am, i stomped the throttle while he was side by side with me... surprisingly, he punched his throttle as well...

This was definitely the longest race i have ever been in and was surprised because we stayed dead even up until 110, and i mean dead even!!! After staying on the throttle for a while, He just gave up out of frustration, braked hard and made a hard maneuver into my lane behind me... As i slowed down to about 70, he proceeded to floor his car and gave me a middle finger (i just laughed because i deserved it )

I guess his whopping 14 hp over the matrix didnt help him for ****...

So it happened.

I met my buddy for a Ski last night at the local hangout. We finish eating and decide we're gonna go to our buddy's house in a nearby town...with 5 miles of straight wide open road between. I was in the 98 Escort 4 banger (my dad's work car, drove it to fill it up for him) and he is in his 95 Contour LX (V6). I am 5 speed, he is auto.

First we run from about a 30 roll, he takes the hit while I am waiting for him to pull up next to me so I gun it, we stay dead even for about 5 seconds or more (from about 35-50) then he puts about a car on me by the time we're to 95, he pulled harder from 50-70 then I slowed his pull. Second race was from a high roll, about 60-110, I got the hit (I think he fell asleep) and put a car on him before he came roaring by again. I thought about what Sean said and powershifting but decided I'd better not do it in my dad's car.

So I parked the car at my buddy's with my head hanging...my friend in the Contour fist pumping and jumping around at the win (his first drag race EVER).

95 Contour V6 > 98 Escort I4

My ws6 is my daily/"winter" beater .

Kid in a twin flame tip fart cannon, hellaflush-ed R32 would not leave me alone last night. I was cruising along, cutout closed, on a two lane 50mph road at 55 to this girl's house and he was legitimately 12" off my rear bumper for about 5 minutes, so close I couldn't even see his headlights. I can't stand when people drive like a douche to instigate a race...I mean if I see a car I want to run, I just pull up alongside, rev/nod, and ask for 3 honks. Seems pretty simple to me?

As soon as traffic cleared he was next to me, hitting the throttle and jumping a half car like 5 times. I rolled down the window to see what this street thug wanted. The thunderous buzz coming from his flame tipped, fake titanium exhaust made me laugh so hard that his **** eating grin quickly transformed into sad face. At this point, the road straightens out, we slow down to around 30, he downshifts and I open the cutout.

I didn't even want to honk it off with this guy, so I just raised my hand and pointed for him to take the hit. He punches it, and again I'm all lulz at his lack of an exhaust note...its just a constant buzz. I follow suit shortly thereafter and let the LS1 eat some german food for dinner.

I shut it down around 120, buslengths ahead. Mr. VW tough guy didn't even come back for round 2, proceeding to hang back and drive the speed limit. I presume, as if a lightning bolt of humility hit him in the chest, he figured out how to drive like a sane human, and decided to stick to impressing high school girls with his stupid wheels.

VW kids...either love em or hate em.

Nice kill.

And i hate dubbers, if you can't tell by my sig. It's not the slow cars, it's the attitude many of them have.

Come on now, not all of us are like that. There are plenty of dumb annoying f-body drivers as well as every other brand.

Nacho SS, next time go from a dig and see if that R32 doesn't jump out ahead of you and make you play catch-up. Also, all R32's came with DSG transmission so he was downshifting either with his paddle shifters or on the stick. & I'm really disappointed in that guy if he truly had a shitty exhaust because VR6's sounds so amazing.

I said many. There are good and bad in all brands, but VW owners seem to have a very high proportion of guys who don't have a clue what real performance is, but are somehow cocky about it.

By the way, R32s are not launch monsters. The electronic AWD system just isn't cut out for it. Most are around low 1.9 to high 1.8x 60 foot times (for the older gen, which are faster. I'm giving you the benefit of the doubt here), no better than a RWD with a mediocre street tire, so i doubt Nacho would have to play catchup.

I'm not talking a new one like yours. It was one of the 04 body type like this:

And it was definitely a manual transmission car, not DSG.

I don't hate VW guys, a number of them are my friends (I don't know any r32 guys though), but they know their cars are pretty slow, even modded. I would say the majority of them don't care about drag racing. I find it funny that the car they hate the most (fbody), with a built suspension, easily hangs with them in *most* turns and run them down a majority of the straights. Autocross is probably a different story; the tighter setup is more the specialty of the smaller, more nimble car...aka the VW.

I don't really autocross very much but I do know a lot people love to run canyons here in SoCal. I usually see a lot of VW guys out there, absolutely tearing places up. I've ridden in my friend's MkI Golf vert and another friends MkIV hatch and they absolutely eat corners. There's not much power there coming out of corners, but when you are keeping a constant 60 mph through canyons in boost it's pretty impressive. Shows you that there plenty of fun uses for that type of car . I would never try drag racing people in it though, its just not strong in that aspect.

Warning, some stupid flush/stance content....

The kid I raced however...was not as cool. He thought he was king ****, and had a friend in the car so I suppose he wanted to show off. Just barked up the wrong tree

I guess I should have asked what year first!

Without a turbo swap the MKV's(like mine) can only get up to around 275whp. Turbo swaps are pretty straight forward and there is more and more aftermarket support every day for them. I have beaten 2 stock LS1's(an '04 GTO, M6 & a '99 SS, A4). They were both neck and neck and if we had rung out to higher than 115 I'm sure they both would have over taken me.

I have met a lot of VW owners who really dislike F-Bodies for some reason, I have never found out why and have never gotten a good answer. Personally, I think WS6's are the sexiest cars made in America in the past 30 years. & I'm in love with LSX engines.

i think i stated new sig trend

im tired of being looked at like a lil slobalt by common folk. (not u guys.....the rookies in the streets)

i ran a mid 13 and ive trapped 106.
from a roll ive hung with high 12 cars.....damnit!
i want my r-e-s-p-e-c-t so im taken it out on my sig.

so today a late 90s early 2000 GT pulls to my right, hes in the cut off lan (about 1100 feet).....you know he thinks hes gona get me.

i look over and give the nod and forward look. he nods back with a grin.

light goes green, he stays next to me for most of 1st (35 degrees) but then i pull hard in 2nd, bang 3rd and its even worse....had to be 4 cars or more before i let out since he had to realize he just got whupped by the salted up lil 4 door

good times......

I had what i hope is my last winter beater race of the season yesterday, in my 2.2 auto S10 w/ intake and tune.

Late 90's/early 2000s extended cab F150 with one of the Triton badges on it, don't ask me which motor. We ran from 30-70, which seems short but it took awhile.

We were both driving aggressively, and ended up at a light. We we side by side around 30 when i floored it and he followed suit. I got a fender jump and he started coming around me slowly. He got about 1.5 truck lengths on me before i gave up and let him go.

Back in like 05 a buddy had a new F150 with the extended cab and the smaller V8, i think it was a 4.6? That thing was slow as *****, it would run dead even with me on the highway and lose from a dig, so i assume this was an older truck with the 5.4 or something. I'm not going to bother looking it up.
