Default I got beat...

Travelling down the hwy when an EVO pulls up beside me. I looked over and we both slowed a little to allow the cars in ront of us to get farther away before we went. I let him honk and I jumped on the third honk, I was ahead for about 1 second and then he instantly reeled me back in and was already about a car and a half to two cars away before I even shifted to fourth! Anyways, he obviously wasn't stock, but few of the EVO's in my area are... So, anyways, first loss with this cam swap. Last time I raced I put an asswhooping on a 90's mustang 5.0 and an s2000 and a brand new evo...

Makes me wish I had money to install a supercharger and bigger injectors...

Good death

Pretty easy to make decent power with an EVO.

What EVO was it (VIII, IX, X)?

run him from a dig and it will likely be a different outcome, from a roll puts him in his power curve right a way...

bigger turbo...more boost put you down....get some head work or new heads next, you wiil like the extra 40 to 80horse power and you can jump back n the *** again the next time you run across the evo

stout car for an LT1...Im surprised he was able to beat your 110 mph trapps so easily. 110 for Evo's is usually a decent build...

This guy must of been around 115 or in the 1/4 to walk away like that. Well built Evo and no shame in that

110 is a boost controller and a tune.

his only hope would be the evo bogging off the line to the point he couldnt recover. to bog that bad he would have to stall the car, ha.

Evo's are kings from digs... From the factory they are friggin awesome from 0-80 then they kind of fall flat on their face from what I remember

Good death OP! Now just mod your car more and throw some AI or LE 200 cc heads on it

location location location..

Here in hawaii stock sti's and evo's trapped 97 mph..96-99 mph. Never saw one get to 100 mph stock..They came in droves..10-15 cars..

112 mph was the fastest mph we saw out of one with mods...of course this is the same track were my head/cammed auto C5 with 380 rwhp only trapped 109-111 mph max...

So you get the idea. Regardless 110 mph trapps for a LT1 still is impressive too me. Ive seen those things dyno and even with cam/supercharger they were still only high 300's..380 rwhp if memory serves. he could at a minimum take out an intake/exhaust LS1 Im sure

I used to love running the evo's/sti's....stock evo against stock c5...0-40 the evo was in the lead...At 50 were side by side..At 60 the C5 is a 1/4 car back. By 70 the C5 was a car ahead and then at the end of the 1/4 3-4 cars ahead both stock..

C5 at 13.5 at 103 and Evo at 13.8 at 98

Those cars were fun to race

I would think that Hawaii would have higher trapping cars since it's right at sea level?

My brother's evo with bolt on's and more boost handed it real bad to my 104 mph trap shelby GT. Took me by a good 6 cars haha. I'm pretty sure he had around a 110-112 mph evo.

Yeah, I think with ported heads and a bigger cam I would have had a better shot, but based off the way he took off, I'd say his car would have trapped close to or more than 120mph. It probably had a bigger turbo, maybe a gt35r. A lot of guys in the wa state area have really fast sti's and evo's. It's a very popular car because of our weather. Plus, there are a few high tech awd dyno's in my area, which makes it easier for them and tons of tuners for the imports. Either way I give the guy props. I have a friend who had an evo who turned up the boost with his boost controller and he had more agressive cams, but the best he trapped was 106 I think. The evo was a IX, maybe VIII, but not an X. I also have a friend who has an sti with cobb stage 2 and he traps about 105.

It was the first car I've raced that really blew the doors off my car. In the past before the cam swap I had lots of close races with evos and sti's and turbo hondas, but this EVO was all go! I would love to have a hp monster like that!

Whatever I do next if I decide to do more to my trans am, it will be turbo or supercharger. Heads and bigger cam won't be enough. I want to have the kind of power to hang with zr1's and vipers. Plus, I think the driveablilty of a boosted car is better than a NA car with huge power. V8 plus boost is beastly!

I agree. A cam and a 150 shot and that should change the outcome.
