getting a 2.06 60' time and a 13.9 out of a 99mph trap speed is NOT "driving the *****" out of a car.....then again im not entirely sure what "driving the *****" out entails.

Looks like GM was mod for mod .2-.3 seconds behind the 2011 5.0(back in 2002 )

BTW, I think most stock LS1's on a tire would run low 13's or slower. This is the F-body unicorn

 

theyve gone 12.3's completely bone stock already. Mod for mod, i would say theyre still more than .2-.3 faster.

If you wanna talk best times (including this questionable one), that video of an LS1 F-body on M/Ts is still .39 behind the best stock 5.0s . Which would be a larger gap with a set of M/Ts as well

 

IMO what we have here, is overhyped stock 2011GT's, and underestimated bolt-on 2011GT's. it cannot be explained to non-5.0 owners how much a tune fixes the bullcrap factory tune. 45lb-ft improvement at points in the power curve. traction control shut -the hell off, stability control minimized, torque managment deleted, etc.

i make NO excuses for a stock 5.0. they will lose to other cars left and right. but a tuned, bolton will lose only to a very powerful car.

my current power to weight is better than a 2007-2009 stock GT500.

i will only lose to a better car and setup. as it should be. a 4th gen f-body only needs 390ish rwhp to kill my car. less weight means a lot. all of the cammed f-bods should beat a coyote even with bolt ons.

 

Btw OP, your GF may like the looks of the SS, but I'll bet she ends up hating it. Poor interior design (overstyled) and lack of amenities, poor outward visibility, etc. Definitely not a chick car.

Exactly. Even with him using that questionable ringer as a "best" for a "stock" LS1 F-body, they are still further away from each other than he's willing to admit.

well, the 2002's are supposed to be the faster F-Bodies. Thats why when people quote best 1/4 times for LS1's they usually use the 2002's for reference.

Has she sat in one and driven it yet? Be sure to have her drive around a parking lot at the mall/grocery store if she can get past just sitting in it. My gf sat in it and moved on immediately.
