Please show me an 86 TPI F body from the Factory then-anyone??. Didn't exist. It was delayed and never made in production. I still have the service bulletin sent to the dealers about it. Unless it came out in August of 86(last month of 86 production) it was not available

I had an 1985 Trans am that came with a 305TPI. It had a 700 auto, and came with the 9 bolt rear end. It was rated at 215 hp. The '86 f bodieds also had an optional 305TPI but it was detuned because of a cam change to 190 hp.

The IROC was the only z28 model available for the years of 85-89 when the IROC name was owned by GM. There was no regular z28 when the IROC was out.
The IROC name was dropped in 90 and the z28 returned. So of course the only the IROC got the 350tpi motor. The IROC z28 was the only one produced. FYI number8 as an F identified a 305 and 8 was the 350. You dont have any magical eye....it was common knowledge. LMAO at you thinking the IROC was special though.

I sure was laughing though, as I read through all this. I couldn't help but remember DRIVING an 85 IROC and an 85 Z/28 "back in the day" and then remembering getting ahold of a '90 RS with the 305... Slow, but gorgeous. I was gonna tell ya to go look it up, even. Wouldn't want ya to be wrong forever, but I'm convinced you won't listen to me.
Because he'd rather NOT be embarrassed...

Correct indeed, the 305 TPI was available(brand new) in 1985 F-bodies. For the IROC-Z, as its TOP engine model, the LB9... It was NOT, of course, the same as the 86 everyone remembers... The 86 was JUNK compared to all the others. In 86, it got the LG4 cam. I think people remember the 86 so off handedly because it was so poorly tuned with that "wrong" camshaft.
In 85, on the IROC, you'd know it by the "TUNED PORT INJECTION" badge.

I nearly hit "reply" before noting that other people came along and took your *** to school... Okay, now ya know.

Heh... Says the guy who also said, and... or, for that matter, At least we got a good laugh over it... Except for your hurt feelings, not from all the others lambasting you, just me...
For the record, you are aware that IROC was just a sticker slapped on the side of a z28 and had no real relavance right? There was nothing special...
