^^That, or a 454 N/A LSX.

The BOSS would be crazy with that redline though.

Viper V10 with a $3,000 cam/thermostat swap that loses HP would be the best idea to swap into a fox.

If I were to do a fox I would shamelessly copy this car.

Yea just a little. This is very well thought out and well done. The times it runs on 17's are just silly. I don't know the guy personally but have seen him around on another site.

LSx making 430rwhp cam only is nothing new, specially with junkyard 6.0's(add ARP bolts and a nice 200 shot) vs. a modified 347/331 sbf with expensive aftermarket heads/rotating assemblies/intakes manifolds etc to make similar hp. Yes, there are some 347's make more than 430rwhp but these are far and few. Another thing is how easy it would be to tune an LSx vs. sbf, better street manners, better mpg, reliability and simplicity.

Specialty parts like motor mounts and cross-member mounts are relatively cheap and can even be fabbed up for cheap.

More impressed with the LS because 10 years ago the LS was running 12's factory stock, low 12's on a tire and 11's on bolt-ons just like the 2011 5.0. Yes the 5.0 is marginally faster 10 years later and it does it with far less displacement but im just not sold specially after puppy kicking one this weekend lol.
There's more to running 12's than simply having purchased an LS1 10yrs ago. What those did has little bearing on what your build will do. The chassis is entirely different in those two vehicles, for starters. Sure, most would say a FOX body is a better start with the LS1 installed. That said, I can't think of any LSanything powered Mustangs running as well as those using a Ford engine. Fact is, there are none. It's not an accident or coincidence that Ford powered Fords outrun GM powered Fords. Yeah, for those who wanna run 12's, it's almost a toss up. Going really fast, however, isn't so easy. Longterm, using a Ford engine offers major benefits, particularly if you ever want to go really quickly down the track. Overall, it's less expensive to retain Ford power in the Mustang.

Many people think it's less expensive to swap an LS1 in, but I can't tell how that would happen, just considering all the changes required to get the drivetrain correctly installed. The 351W basically just drops right into an otherwise stock chassis... You'll wanna change a few things, but not even close to as many changes are needed as with another brand engine and transmission. Fit isn't the issue(though headers will be needed for the 351). Mounting hardware is a bigger concern. That's just a start though, and doesn't even consider parts availability. The market for Ford parts in the FOX body Mustang is massive. I eould think, second to none.

No doubt, you've never built one. I ain't gonna talk trash about it, as I haven't touched one in 15+years. The 4.6L '03/4 engine is great, but a Cleveland is no slouch. That said, I'd use a W block, perhaps with C heads.

Meh, to some. I just get sick of the whole "stick an 03/04 drivetrain into any Mustang" mentality. If I had the money right now (I'm currently in school full-time and an athlete so time/money isn't permitting) I would put a turbo'd Dart block 363 in a notchback...but of course we all have our dreams

Good job on your education. I graduated from the University of CA Davis with a Masters in Nutrition and minor in Social Work. Keep at it! Anyhow...

A Cleveland would be nice don't get me wrong. I just like the idea of all that torque from an 03 mill in a sub-3,000lb vehicle. My Cobra was nasty at a curb weight of about 3500. Just imagine 500 or so pounds shaved off that. plus all you need is a pulley swap and your in the 10's.

Yeah, I'd agree. I just like to see pushrods in Foxes, that's all

The foxbody platform is so well suited for drag racing it really doesn't matter what motor you stick under there. Any V8 making decent power should move a fox along quite good. I think guys just like to be different with them now as the old Windsor pushrods have been beatin to death. That's why I switched to modulars because I got bored with them. And then I got bored with modulars and switched to LSX. Im sure ill get tired of these at some point and be onto something else. lol
