Cam only TA vs 2011 5.0
My car is a cam only 347 with stock compression, actually lower with the valve reliefs . It has a 230/236 cam and bolt ons.
The 2011 5.0 just had the driveshaft replaced with a lighter one. Think he said he lost 29lbs total off the rotating mass. Other than that it is stock.
We went from a 60 roll to about 140. I gave him the hit and he jumped 1/2 to 3/4 pretty quick before I could hit it. I immediately stopped the pull and was back beside him before 2nd was done. I hit 3rd right beside him and continued to pull. Hit 4th and stayed in it till around redline ending with around 3-4 cars total.
This was on our way to the track so we had to have a little fun.

Well I actually was only able to muster a 12.43. Couldn't ever get it to launch great with my crappy tires. I drove the mustang to a 13.31 it's very first pass. Thought I could finish the 1/4 in 3rd with the 3.31 gears, but was on the rev limiter so would have prob been a 12 sec pass had I shifted to 4th.

Tires can kill you a the track also. I know some guys are heating the stock tires on the mustang like they are slicks. Makes them stick pretty good. Figured you have to shift to 4th also. Hell i have to sift to 5th when only thing had on it was 26" slicks and stock 3.73 gears. Still shift 5th now also. We see next time with the raised limiter.
That is why 3.73s seem to be the right gear compared to the 4.10s where a gear change to 5th is required. I have some room to grow and can always change the tire size for more room

I hold 4th out with a 26" et street and factory 3.73s; hit the limiter right after the traps. That is with a tune of course with a raised limiter compared to the factory cut off.

I do really like the 4.10s on the street though.

I can't help but wonder how many deaths there have been to the new 5.0 by users but aren't getting posted because their pride has been scarred after so many people on here just say they're overhyped 24 hours a day. Oh well...we'll never know.
Good kill OP.
