GT-Rs are expensive to mod and maintain. They fixed a lot of stuff in the 12's and made it a much faster car all around but Aftermarket tuners are still trying to unlock the 2012 ECUs. Granted, the 2012's are only 3 months old.

The fastest GT-R's always pull up older ones where they have them down in the 7s. Fastest new style R35 I can find is a 9.1@163 by AMS performance. That was with the Alpha 10 kit. They have Alpha 12 kits now.

Z06 vs gtr???
ill never understand.
i dont car if you drive a ferrari/lambo/fgt/viper. the z06 is a sweet lookin car.low and agressive lookin with a mean stance. the gtr on the other hand looks llike a regular car or a g35 with a body kit. i could easily argue that the 370z looks more special.
the z06 at 7 k made per year is more rare and hence special than the 12k a year gtr.
lets be real for a second here. when your dropping 80k plus for a z06 or gtr....more than likey you have a dd or in many cases when you buy this kinda car the owner will have a few differant dd's. so why get a boreing looking gtr that all the mags say is also boreing around the road course when the z06 is american beaty and fun as hell around a road course?
i honestly cant see any reason to choose a gtr over a z06 unless you cant afford a dd and need the backseat for transporting kids ect..
If you really want the gtr for its awd ect and can easily afford dd's and also have your gtr then why not get a gallardo?

From mags it has been 11.1-11.2@134ish. Haven't seen no one post anywhere they took a 2012 they own to a track yet. There are several comparisons of the GT-R vs ZO6 stock to stock. Every time the GT-R rapping it.
There are ZO6 every where. There are not GT-R's every where. Don't see how the ZO6 is more rare.
The ZO6 has lost to the GT-R around the track and at the drag strip. Stock for stock mod for mod.
Both are just as expensive. 27k gets you 1100hp in the GT-R threw AMS. Not to shabby. That will run you about same if not more to do the ZO6 that way and be reliable like they do with the GT-R.
And really a G35 or 37..come on that is just stupid.

I always get GTR's mixed up with eclipes's ( How ever the hell you spell that, lol), But what killamall said is sort of right, GTR's are faster then z06's, no question to that, but Z06's, IMO, have a sick stance, and look incredible. My buddy own's a GTR and replaced his transmission 3 times, under one year, Luckily, Nissan covered it twice, and found out he has been breaking them at the strip and didn't cover the third. But Dude, 20K for a Tranny?!!!

My taste is questionable? Lol... Had more than a few people tell me my ride is the nicest they've seen actually cruising the streets and get stopes by people everywhere I go who want to talk about mys ride. Bit your right since I think your beloved s2k is ugly then my taste is questionable. As to the rarity issue. I don't cRe what you you see more of.that's all coincidentAl. The reLity is that at 7k mDe a year the z06 is nearly twice as rare as the gtr. With it's 12k per year made. To some people this rarity means nothing at all.and to some it means a he'll of a lot. To me rarity is a huge factor. At 12k a year the gtr is produced much just like a regular car.
To put it in perspective. Their are 60k r35gtr's in the world. Their are 35k z06's and 9,500 srt10 vipers. Lamborghini hit their 10,000th gallarado off the assembly line a few months back.
Srt10 started back in 2003
Gallardo back in 2004
Z06 back in 2006
Yet their are 30 to 50 more r35 gtrs in the world.
Btw.the new gtr has Ben running 11.1through 11.3 in the rags. But it was no where near 134 mph. It was 123-125 mph. Still impressive but a ways off from the z06's beat mag times of 126 and 127 mph

OK to set the record straight here the 2012 GT-Rs do 11.1 @124 stock across the board on magazines. The highest trap I've seen for one on another forum is 126mph. Lowest time so far for a bone stock 2012 GT-R is 11.07 as seen here:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VJR67XbU8Xk
The owner literally bought it off the showroom floor, did a baseline dyno and ran it at the track. I think it can hit 10.9s by the end of the year in bone stock form.
As far as production numbers the C6 Z06 is produced in larger numbers than the GT-R is.
What the GT-R has is CONSISTENCY. Being able to hit low 11s all day at 124mph traps allows it to go toe to toe with Z06s.
My guess on its success against the C6 Z06 in stock form is its gearing and ability to stay in powerband in all shifts. With all of this I can see a C6 Z06 beating a GT-R in a standing mile event by a bit. They have similar top speeds (C6 Z06 195mph, 2012 GT-R 196mph)
Bottom line are that they are very close cars in performance. What crazy about it is that the GT-R weighs 3900lbs and is pulling on cars with a much better power to weight ratio.

1 or 2 don't make it the norm. Specially if they in crazy - DA. The average driver is running low 11s in GT-R's. The average driver is running mid-high 11s in a ZO6.
Have to agree with the above in a standing mile the ZO6 might pull ahead stock to stock by a hair or so.

Didn't read all 4 pages of what I'm sure was a pissing match, but I have pulled on a GT500 on the street from a low roll and I have videos of me beating one with at least exhaust and drag radials at the track.
My traps that day? 109mph. He ran a 12.6 to my 12.4 (it was HOT and humid, around 3000ft DA). His best of the day was a 12.3 but he missed third briefly on the final race and I took the trophy home on a double win (he red lit and I still beat him).
Point being it is not hard for me to believe a modded c5z could take one on a roll, especially with a driver not on his game.
