Default Another 2011 5.0 street kill

Cliff notes at bottom.

Coming back from an awesome small town cruise (200+ hot rods cruising main street doing burnouts in front of cops etc) and just as I'm coming off the highway on the merge road I see Mustang lights/fogs coming so I jump in the empty lane quick.

Other lane is blocked but he sees me and gets behind me. I'm on the drag radials so on the light I jump out and give him room to get around the car in the other lane. He does and I know he's game. I see the 5.0 badges and get excited. I've seen the car before, manual and Brembos for sure don't know what else. He had another guy with him and I had my g/f.

We line up from ~40-45mph, I'm holding 2nd gear and I hear him drop a gear from whatever he was in, I motion him to just take the hit. As soon as I hear him go I hit it and we are even for a moment then I begin to slowly pull. By the top of 2nd I'm half a car out and he has a lazy shift and I put him on my bumper. I'm still creeping so I just go ahead and shut down since we are in town.

He gave a thumbs up which I returned and I turned off.

Cliff notes

LS1 Chevelle pulls a car on a 2011 5.0 from a ~40-45mph roll

Also had a friend in his S197 auto (exhaust and CAI, ran 11.4 1000ft in ~0 DA) try his luck.

Put a car in a half on him from a ~40 roll almost instantly before he just gave up haha I don't think we broke the speed limit.

7.8 1/8
12.2 1/4

Both with the same kind of launch I can do on the street on the drag radials.

I am pretty certain it was stock, and from the way his shift went I bet he forgot to push the nanny button. Oh well that's his problem.

~3600 plus my skinny *** (same for my g/f) and I had my 50lb sub box in the car.

If I can get the car to leave as hard as it should once the DA goes down this fall (to a whopping 2000da) the car is almost guaranteed to run an 11

Nice kill, Is your chevelle full weight? I have alway's been curious about how much those older car's weigh and if they are heavier than late models . I alway's assumed they where physically bigger but weighed about the same.

Older Muscle is almost always lighter than the newer cars. I would like to build a old GT350

I can't imagine how many people would have been killed if the late 60s and early 70s had the power today's motors have.

Chevelles are full frame cars, unlock unibody mustang/camaro/firebird/challenger/cuda/nova. Any of those cars should be down around 3000-3200lbs unless it's loaded out and has an all iron big block. Big block Chevelles can weigh as much as 3900lbs if they're full weight and a lot of options.

My car is almost full weight, it's all steel with full factory interior. Has a big block 3 row radiator, steel inner fenders, SS suspension with larger front sway bar and added rear, has aftermarket bolt on traction bars, and all that. I removed the a/c during the swap since the compressor wouldn't fit and I didn't feel like messing with it. The 4l60e weighs more than the th350. Car has no insulation under the factory carpet and I scraped off the tar paper junk.

A friend of mine has a 69 chevelle non ac car with inner fenders removed and missing some interior and his weighs 3300# with the ls1/4l60e swap. He used the fbody tiny *** radiator, no sway bars, and the 68-69 cars were a little smaller bodywise.
