You should have less than 10% leak down in each cylinder. Do it with a warm engine to get accurate results. If you have a problem in a cylinder, the leak down tester will find it and tell you whether it is bad rings or valves.

The leak down test is different than a compression test. The compression test tells you if the cylinder will pressure up. The leak down test will tell you where it is losing pressure after it is pumped up.

THIS...... that is what I did with my Shelby. Took it to a friends muffler shop. We cut right behind the cats and lowered the pipes... I used a prybar and heavy hammer, and chiseled all the material out... cranked the car up and blew the rest out.. welded the pipes back up and that was it.

182k and my 10bolt doesn't make any noise. It's not leaking either so that probably helps.

I live in Raleigh, I think Poppa lives in Charlotte or around there, Heater is from the coast or more over east, Mach lives somewhere like 30 mins from Raleigh I think, as does GtoSpd...I think.

I will actually be in the Virginia beach area in about 4 weeks, anyone close to there? I'll be stuck there for a while I have to have my surgery and recover before they let me off of active duty.

Nice! I should find out the dates soon. It'd be cool to meet fellow SRK posters. Not sure I'll have the Mustang as they may be flying me down and giving me a rental. Poppa looks like you're a couple hours away.
