The car is much more responsive now and more fun to drive. I also put OEM black ZR1 wheels on it, so it looks a lot better now too.

All thats left now is some cosmetic stuff and I have a pretty nice DD.
Didn't you get that thing for a steal, too?

Nice!

I was going to take some and get a vid of exhaust today, but we ended up with a shitload of rain for some reason.

I paid 2200 for it, Ive got about 1500$ in it now. Still need to fix the drivers side window and the drivers seat.

Looks like a damn good deal for that. What was wrong with it again when you bought it?

Brakes, cosmetic stuff and the fluids (other than the oil) hadn't been changed in years, I have already done the trans fluid twice. I did all the belts, the exhaust was rusted to ****, etc etc. Motor and trans are super strong though, it makes good oil pressure and the shifts are nice and firm. A little noise from the rear, im thinking its an axle bearing going bad in it because there was no metal inside the pumkpkin when I took the cover off.

I bought it because it was all little stuff I could do myself, and I enjoy it.

163k when I bought it. Which is nothhing as long as I take care of it now. I wasnt even looking to get another car. The trans has been rebuilt at some point too, it didnt say the mileage on the reciept and I dont know what is in it. She said "a shift kit." it shifts firmer than a stock car so what I am thinking is someone put a hypertech programmer on it or something.

Sadly, one with under 100K here will go for 5-7K depending on the model (WS6 SS Base model ETC) and transmission. I am just going to keep it unless someone buys it for what I have it listed for. I was kind of hoping to make a quick buck on it but if not I will drive it for a while until I get my C6 then sell it for what little mod $ I can get for it.

I was looking at a 2002 with 185K on it but the guy wouldn't budge from 3000 and it needed tires and the interior was a hideous blue color with a ton of speakers in the doors and stuff.

I took my stock pump and shimmed the spring. Bad idea, I hit over 100lbs when I reved it up a little bit.... Im hoping it drops off a little bit atleast haha.

Seems like when mine has done it, it's always been timing/plug wires crossed.

You might want to check to see if you've got a rocker too tight, that will cause a engine to pop back also.

Ya I reran all the rockers just to be sure. Its a solid flat tapppet cam. If you notice in the video if i retard the timing it slows the pop almost to non existance, but advancing it really intensifies it. Going to try a new cap tomorrow. Im more concerned with 100+ psi of oil pressure at like 3,000 rpms :/

When you went back over the rockers, did they all seem to be close? You have to be real careful with a solid cam...wiping a lobe off, which will cause the engine to pop back also.

That oil pressure is higher than what I like, but it might be a defective oil pressure gauge. Word to the wise, at that much pressure, run a real good quality oil filter. A pos Fram will bust the case at that much pressure. Purolator or Wix is what I would run on it.

I guess I wasn't sure how many miles the old LS1 was good for. I always hear horror stories about the 98's. I'm probably just a pansy for higher mileage cars. My 03 truck has a whopping 66,1XX miles on it right now

I don't know if the 98's are worse are not. I suspect mine has a newer motor because it has 241 heads which are 2000-2002 head casting. It doesn't have the LS6 intake though.

Only shitty thing now about the job is waiting.

Well that is a plus!

Yeah man, I feel you. It'd be nice to take the semester off NOW and make money versus giving it to Iowa State University

I don't think I will ever finish school. I only take 2 classes at a time and it's taking forever. I have an associates degree in Criminal justice but it doesn't do any good really
