The cars are making 450rwhp with bolt-ons... that doesn't seem very limited to me. Especially since the car isn't a complete fatass.
Exactly.
1) You are acting like the R/T and SRT-8 Challengers don't look almost EXACTLY like the base model. Now if you just like the way the Challenger looks more than the Mustang, that's fine... but that "it looks like the base model" reasoning is ridiculous.
2) The car is very fast for being as heavy as it is. But where you would rather drive the big car with the big engine, I'd rather drive the car that weighs 600lbs less and is a ****-hair slower in a straight line.

Some shops have did this. Dyno in 4th stock then 5th to show bigger gains.
And from looking around on the challenger forums seems most are around 400ish bone stock. Dyno's can read high though/. Few people have posted their 5.0 went 390-400 stock. Which would be impossible without a happy dyno.

So you know if they dyno in 5th gear they would be higher in the 5.0. 5th is a 1:1. None of the rest of the gears are. This has been proven. Mine was fynoed in 4th cause that what did my base pull in also.

These new 392's are making some very impressive power stock. Yes they're much on the portly side, but Mopar has always done a good job of offsetting weight with horsepower and torque. This one is no exception. New Mustang and Camaro owners better be on their P's & Q's cause this new SRT-8 is no joke!

And check this out, this one's bone stock w/ just a 60-shot and some higher octane solely to keep the timing in order (no tune). 470/535

Wait until guys start throwing the basic bolt ons like headers, midpipe, cold air, tune. God forbid a nice heads & cam package on top. Can you say "Tail lights".

Torque will read higher with a fourth gear pull..The higher the number on the gear ratio the more torque it will have.

Both having bolt ons it gets more interesting. The great thing about mustangs is there is so much already out there to drop 200-300lbs really fast. Ask me how I know.

We will see. My numbers will be a little effected as well with the 4.10s and 295 Drag radials I run 24/7.
The new Chally is making great power. And I think it will shine stock to stock on a roll race with a 5.0. On the track I think it is more of a drivers race. Its issue is its weight. Roll will help the weight not be as big factor till higher speeds. What gearing comes in the new SRT8? Actual weight?

Am I the only person that thinks the 392 is making **** numbers? Yes, it is making great numbers compared to the SS/5.0. But it is however a 6.4L motor making 470 HP. The Boss is making 444 HP with a 5.0L. I'm sure if Chevy made a performance V8 model like the Boss and SRT that they could pull off equal numbers to the SRT.
For $43,000 on the SRT-8 you had better be buying the car based on it's looks because in the performance department it's lacking compared to the competition, $ to $.

Let me just say this..You have a sick *** car and i would rock the hell out of it,but i think the new challenger is gonna put a hurting on alot of cars..I will be test driving one in less than two weeks,I have a choice of an auto or manual..Just wish i had somebody that could drive worth a **** so i can run the gto against it for a comparison.
My car is just getting started. I have a lot of plans for it. Biggest thing is just deciding for sure what way i want to go. I also know there is always something faster.

Weight is not really an issue tho. Their making close to 50whp more on average compared to what we saw when the Coyotes first came out (360-375) and more torque peak and under the curve. They're running similar if not quicker average 1/4 mile times too. Plenty of engine displacement. And 535lb/ft w/just a 60-shot and nothing else is crazy.
From times seen on Challengertalk/challengerforums they are running very close times as each other. Some 12.3-12.9's just like the 5.0s. Comparing best each the 5.0 is ahead by .15/3mph. That was with the SRT8 on DR's and the 5.0 on street tires. 12.1 with just tires on a 5.0. The weight is making a bigger factor then the 50whp. Also a few 5.0's have hit 380whp+ stock.
Both are getting faster stock with more people learning to drive them. Which happens with all cars.
