New SRT8 Challenger 392
Spanked a SRT8 last night on Woodward. Went from probably a 35 roll and put 2 cars on him rather quickly. This was the first race since the mods on my Z28 (224r cam, LS6 intake, LT's, ORY) Already had 3.73's, 2800 converter, Nitto drag radials.

I watched 3 differenr ones go 12.3's and 12.4's last week at 113 in a warm saturday afternoon. Stock with just DR's. Theyre a low/mid 12 second car without a doubt. The right tire and driver with good weather they can 11's with just drag radials.

I went constant 12.1/12.2 with just tires. But that is not stock. Tire change is not stock. That case every 11 GT500 is low-mid 11s then. And the Boss that went 11.7 with just tires is stock.
Yes they added power but also added weight to the 392's. Best SRT8 yet. But again have facts straight. Putting ******* DR's on a car it is not stock anymore.

guy ran 12.7
another guy 13.0-12.7/ he also is fastest bone stock at 12.37 after some great air and stuff. Car dynoed at SAE was 397 388 and STD was 406 393. It is a auto.

The SRT 392 is a great race for the 5.0. Really it all comes down to drivers. The 5.0 has a weight advantage and gears, where the 392 has a massive HP/TQ advantage. The SS is in the same boat but to me falls a hair short on both.

As said fastest one is 12.37 with a DA of 220. Not going to get much better with out a negative DA. Its also a auto. A lot of manual guys are saying how hard the manual is to launch with out DR's.
I gave it props as it is way better then old SRT's. But it also weight over 4000lbs. Throwing power at it will only last for so long with every one else doing same and weighing less. Plus the price tag alone keeps it from being bought up like mustang's and camaro's. Not always bad. But for starting at 44k I would spend a hair more and get the GT500 or little less and get Boss. Or wait a few months and get the ZL1.
Also sales are killing the Chally. Dodge sold 16,777 Challengers. Compare that to Chevy moving 40,275 Camaros and Ford selling 30,206 Mustangs. My wifes boss mentioned how the biggest thing for the Camaro this year is the convertible. How it is boosting sales.

It seems to be running average times just like 5.0 with average drivers. 12.5-12.9. And even some 13s.

OP, nice kill. Curious to know if it ran at it's potential. Was it a manual or auto and if auto, did it hold a gear?
2.0 60fts will put them well into the 12s, 1.9x mid-12s. And 1.9s should not be hard at all with the autos.
The manuals tend to be slower. 3 shifts, less aggressive gearing once it hits 4th iirc, harder to launch.
No, they won't run 11s with DRs stock. Once tuned, sure.

Either way would still take the 540hp GT500 over the SRT8. And Ya would most likely get the Vette over the GT500. You can get a Vette cheaper also. Just some shopping around.
