Default Why the ZL1 sucks

4200lbs
580hp crank? 500 to the wheels if lucky? AND for 55k? No thanks. I'll just cam up and beat it.
lol and oh ya.
2013 gt500 isn't much better
brb 650hp with same tires that our 550hp model can't stick worth a damn. Be those owners will have fun getting beat by stock camrys.
Someone has to teach Chevy what weight reduction is, and teach ford what traction is.

Oh yeah, kills hmm.

I killed a sl63 amg last night. Owner wasn't very happy that my crappy interior, squealing brake pad american box beat him

I'm bored, at work and need some entertainment, so I would like the Chevy and Ford to get in here and start a war.

Thanks. The Benz owner really was upset which made my day. My dad use to own a S class benz and I got to tell you, benz is such a pos. Always breaking and ****.

I believe of the Big 3 Chrysler is the sure winner. With their non selling SRT8 Challengers at 4xxx lbs running 13s with excess hp. And their new SRT8 Chargers that can pull vaults out of banks.

Clear winner. No weight problems like Chevy or traction issues like Ford.

Does that work kind of like putting a turbo on a motor, or hooking up a bottle?? I was unaware of this.

brb buying a car that's advertised as a "zl1 killer" and having to buy my own tires just to beat a stock prius.

Hmm. In a third world south american country and you got a squeeling brake. Lots of gravel roads down there right? If it's in the rear, I would suggest you have the same problem I had when I got my GTO: a rock got into my E-brake drum area and would squeal. pull the ebrake slowly up while rolling. If the wheel locks up, that is the problem. Just pop it off and take the rock out.

lol thanks it was the pads were worn down. Very few gravel roads to be honest. Much less than I saw in Oklahoma and Texas. Just shitty asphalt roads here haha. I just got the pads rebuilt today as a matter of fact. Picking them up in an hour to remount wheels on car at home. My hawk ceramic pads get here in about a week or two, so I had to go ahead and have them locally rebuilt for the meantime.

My rears are just fine

Very rarely on ls1tech does someone start a piece of **** thread and the convo moves to tech info.

But one can pretty much guarantee the other way around if the thread runs long enough lol

I would just like someone to tell me whats so awesome about this ZL1?

It's as fast as a cammed bolt on L99.

Chevy is just become nuts trying to go with f/i. When has chevy ever used FI instead of on the zr1s really? Car should've had a NA engine, like the LS7 maybe with a few upgrades to offset the weight issue. Instead if goes for the caddies love engine, which although impressive, isn't really what this car should be carrying under the hood.

The ZL1 is about a lot more than straight lines and hp numbers.

That's like saying the ZR1 is stupid because you could cam/bolt on a Z06 (which is stupid because you could cam a GS which is stupid because you could add suspension/brakes to a base C6). While I'm not here to say they are or are not worth their prices, but there are more too them than supercharged engines.

Holy **** these threads are dumb!

OP, you are in NO position to talk **** about the new ZL1 AND/OR GT500 with that basically stock SS of yours. **** man, you barely have the right to talk **** about anything here, since most cars would walk you. No stop talking **** over the internet and go mod your car before you make another dumb thread.

Why is Chevy swinging on Ford nuts to supercharge theirs though? They have much better platforms imo and their NA engines are beasts.

LS7 would've been a much better choice than the LSA.

So if Chevy swings on Ford's nuts, and you swing on Chevy's nuts, I think that means you swing on Ford's nuts.

How does it feel?

I'm not a GM engineer.

Last I read the ls7 is a tight tolerance hand built engine. Maybe the lsa/ls9 are more friendly to mass production? More reliable for longterm durability? Better manners? Keep the "mystic" for the Corvette? Maybe MPG drops drastically if installed in a pig of a 5th gen where as a supercharged engine has torque to be more MPG friendly down low?

Who cares? Factory superchargers often means it's easier to get more power so why complain? GM did well with supercharged Cobalts and Grand Ams...not like this is something new.
