A solid axle swap isnt exactly an easy bolt on... now we are just getting into die hard race cars. And who is gonna buy a z28 and do all that to it... no one. You are more likely to find a Dietcoke car. At the end of the day, my car is still a stock longblock. Ive got about 20-25 more hp lined up for this without opening the motor up. So id love to run into a 500whp z28 on the road. I figure you will be able to pull 200lbs out of them fairly easily and at that point its gonna require some good money to go lighter. Its just a heavy chassis, period.
Just with rims big and littles itll drop a dick load of weight thats only rims. Imagine LTS, cats, clutch, battery, bumper supports etc...
Your car has all that done AND then some. I don't see you sitting here saying your cars a race car though?

Always with the corners lol. I didnt exactly put bigs and littles on my car to hit a road course. I have 0 interest in beating anything through turns...And it looks like thats the case in the section with everyone else as well. Its all straight line racing on the street.
Its 3800lbs... SS was 3900lbs... ZL1 is 4100-4200lbs. Its as easy as google lol. All the information is right there in front of you.

To shed pounds, the Z/28 makes due with 19-inch wheels, shaving off 42 lbs. over the 20-inchers found on the SS and ZL1. (There is a notable lesson there...) Gone are the tire inflation kit, trunk carpeting, some sound deadening, fog lights, and most civility. Air conditioning is optional, the rear glass is slightly thinner, and the battery is a lightweight unit. The stereo has been scuttled, with just a single speaker retained for the obligatory seat-belt minder chime. Nine pounds have been cut from the backseat through material changes and doing away with the pass-through ability. In total, the Z/28 weighs 300 lbs. less than the mighty ZL1, or about 3,820 lbs. This puts it at 40 lbs. lighter than a Camaro SS with a manual transmission and 200 lbs. heavier than the recently (and sadly) discontinued Ford Mustang Boss 302.

Maybe they estimated it to be 3,800 lbs just to get the ford fanboy's hopes up. Let them think it will still be heavier than the BOSS.
Then watch them squirt some tears when it weighs in at 3,500 lbs.

Being that it will start out at 35xx-3600lbs 200lbs off is plenty to get into vette weight territory. Look what vettes do with that platform. How is an SRA swap for die hard race cars? lol so SRA swapped cobras are die hard race cars too?

And lets not turn this into what is or isnt a race car. They are all race cars... the only thing that seperates them is the level of work they have done. And a solid axle swap is much bigger then anything i have done to mine. Hell i still run a stock clutch lol. I just recently did a gear swap... i guess thats pretty major?

I hope it weighs 3500lbs... because 3800lbs is retarded for a 2 door sports car. But its not looking too good

The lightening didn't stop with the suspension and brakes. The rear seat design and material was optimized and the trunk pass-through was eliminated in the quest to save nine pounds. Other non-essential kit such as fog lights, trunk carpeting, a tire inflator kit (except in states required by law), sound deadening and HID headlights were left in the spare parts pile. Even the rear window glass is 0.3 mm thinner. In all, the Z/28 is 100 lb lighter than a comparable SS coupe and 300 lb lighter than the ZL1 coupe.

One thing good about the z28 is they removed the weight from things you wouldnt typically remove weight from.

exactly!! ZL1s are at the lightest...4100lbs. Remove 300lbs... 3800lbs. And i had a GTO. Stock auto was 3780... stock stick car was 3725... and that was 04.. they gained a few lbs for the ls2 model.
